Slappy Holidays

Is Darlene a worse parent, sister, daughter, or niece? During The Conners Season 2 Episode 7, she fell to the bottom of the list in all of those categories, and as painful as it was to watch, I also couldn't tear my eyes from the screen. It also made me laugh on several occasions, which is I believe The Conners is one of the best sitcoms on TV. How could Darlene Conner be the villain in her own family, especially when she's so convinced that she's doing the ri... more

Tempest in a Stew Pot

The Conner Thanksgiving is on the line as Darlene faces off with Becky and Jackie over the Lunch Box on The Conners Season 2 Episode 6. And although Darlene's business sense may be sound, that still doesn't mean the decision she's making is right.  Darlene is correct in that restaurants are a risky business. More fail than survive and the odds will be stacked against Becky and Jackie no matter what spin they decide to put on the new version of the Lunch Box. more

Nightmare on Lunch Box Street

Let's make Jackie happy. Because, let's face it, in this case, making Jackie happy will make us all happy whether her plan is a success or a disaster. But the more she talked about reopening The Lunch Box on The Conners Season 2 Episode 5, the more I wanted it to be a success. The Conners Recap: Behold, Season 2's Best Episode (So Far)

Tensions between Jackie/Becky and Darlene over the potential revival of the Lunch Box came to a boil in Tuesday’s brutally funny, Thanksgiving-themed Conners, triggering an act of violence not-so-subtly foreshadowed in the episode’s title, “Slappy Holidays.” After getting coerced by guilt-trippers-for-hire Mark and Mary, Jackie and Becky reluctantly agree to hit pause on their feud with Darlene and attend Thanksgiving dinner at the main house. As if the chances for f... more

The Conners Recap: D-Day for Darlene — Did She Choose David or Ben?

With her months-long romantic imbroglio rapidly coming apart at the seams, Darlene finally made a choice between ex-husband David and new love Ben in Tuesday’s episode of The Conners. And the stealth love triangle ended as awkwardly and messily as it began. The opening moments of Season 2 Episode 4’s “Lanford…Lanford” foreshadowed a turning point in the amusing story arc as Darlene lamented to Jackie that her dumpster fire of a personal life has left her so to... more

'The Conners' Season 2 Is Out to Prove Sitcom Revivals Have Staying Power

“Roseanne” is long gone, but is “The Conners” here to stay? That’s the question ABC looks to answer with a definitive yes when its “No. 1 new comedy” returns for what will officially be its second season. Unofficially, of course, this is the third season featuring the Conner clan, including the 2017 “Roseanne” revival (which was a massive success until Roseanne Barr tweeted herself o... more
