The 100

We are finally at the end, and it's about time.

To say this wasn't the show that the audience knew and loved is an understatement. It isn't clear what show this was, but at least it is finally over. 

Up until the very end, The 100 decided to dig its heels into a storyline that made no sense, which means the resolution was lackluster, and the happy ending was nowhere to be found.

It felt very fitting to be so emotionally removed from a series finale, especially when most of this final chapter didn't tune into the feelings that mattered.

During The 100 Season 7 Episode 16, Clarke fails the test, and then one speech about peace makes humanity worthy of transcendence. Everyone ends up looking like yellow waving inflatable arm flailing tube men from car dealerships, and Clarke ends up alone.

But at the very last second, her friends return to be with her and to live out their days as the last of the human race before they die...

What do you do when a show proves that things only get so bad before they get even worse?

If all this led to the final message that The 100 is trying to portray, they finally accomplished it. It is very clear that this whole season was just proof that there is no hope left for humanity.

Because if these are the choices that The 100 wants to make in its final season, there is nothing left to fight for.

This journey was nothing more than impossible decisions and a tragic end to a story that many once loved.

During The 100 Season 7 Episode 15, everyone is divided as they try to deal with their own issues. Murphy, Raven, and Jackson find themselves fighting to find the Anomaly stone so they can save Emori's life.

There's nothing like the last stretch of the story to bring around a bottle episode.

But in case fans didn't notice that this Game of Thrones-inspired night before the big battle episode was focused on containing storylines, all the bottles scattered around made it clear as day.

The 100 yet again lost itself in an effort to wrap up characters and start last-minute points of conflict.

There are now only two episodes left, and the show has never been more lost in the direction of its story. 

During The 100 Season 7 Episode 14, Clarke appears on Earth right after killing Bellamy. Even though there is a way out, she kills it and creates the Obstacle of the Week. Everyone ends up trapped in the bunker waiting for Raven to fix their way out, and that is when Cadogan sends Sheidheda to find Madi.

After a useless scattered chase around the bunker, Gabriel ends up dead, and Madi ends up in Bardo anyway.

Can we all pretend we did not see that? No?

A loss like that is one that the audience isn't about to forget anytime soon. Even those who prepared to say goodbye to Bellamy Blake were in for several surprises, none of them pleasant.

It is as if the real chess game is this season, with the characters and the audience serving as the sacrificial pawns for the show to let waste away. This episode made that message very clear, but it was also an episode with a ridiculous attempt to tell a story that isn't worth the attention. 

It undermined the two leads, their love for one another, and the show's entire message. Humanity sucks, and everyone ruins everything just doesn't have the best ring to it.

Things are taking a turn, and then there is having no idea where you are going. 

Similiar to the group on Bardo that walked into the Anomaly stone and walked out who knows where it is that point in the show when chaos breaks out in every direction. 

But many of us are just channeling Bellamy Blake, trying to find a way out of here with everyone safe and no more wars in sight. Except everyone is mad at him, and they are scheduling time to all tell him about it.

It really is never easy to wear that white Bardo robe these days, 

During The 100 Season 7 Episode 12, Bellamy's support of Cadogan is broken down as he tries to find a way to keep his friends from being punished. He pitches trying to find and fix the flame, which becomes him and the others pushing each other further away from one another. This leads them back to Sanctum, where they catch the middle of Sheidheda's reign.

Bellamy Blake said he follows The Shepherd and his vision for the final war, so I now follow The Shepherd and his vision for the last war.

Even though Bellamy got the chance to live out his version of a folklore adventure, the joy was short-lived.

Instead, our favorite soft representation of the show's heart had to share his Taylor Swift-inspired experience with a cult recruiter, meaning Bellamy was doomed from the start. His love morphed into trauma, which quickly became a search for answers.

But as we all know, Bellamy Blake has never done anything wrong in his entire life, and this time around is no different. 

During The 100 Season 7 Episode 11, it is revealed that Anders sent Bellamy (and the Conductor) to Etherea. Bellamy's time on that planet and his attempts to get back to his loved ones are followed by a trippy cave twist and a change of allegiance.

A different journey to the same destination is a surprise all its own.

Bardo and Sanctum found times stuck with the same antagonists driving the story, but redefined what it meant to be going in the same direction again.

From Sheidheda stirring up trouble to Echo creating chaos with a ticking clock, only one of them could come out on top.

But in the process, there were lives lost, and now the future for those in Sanctum is unknown. 

During The 100 Season 7 Episode 10, Clarke arrived in Bardo with the others just to have another issue. Echo's need for revenge forces the others to stop her before it is too late, but Diyoza and Anders die in the process. 

Meanwhile, Gabriel and Cadogan have a fun millennial lunch date, and Jordan cracks the real Bardo code with the help of the Green legacy.

What is real, and what is pretend?

Suddenly trying to trust anyone became so much more complicated, and we have to wonder if we can even trust one another anymore.

There is nothing like some quality Bardo cult training to question everything we thought we knew, especially about the characters we spent all this time with so far.

Maybe this is all a simulation, and the real success comes from the friendships we made along the way?

During The 100 Season 7 Episode 9, the timeline takes us back to the Bardo training that Echo, Diyoza, Hope, and Octavia have to get where they are now. It also explains how Hope is missing because she serves out her punishment of five years on Skyring, courtesy of Echo.  

Meanwhile, Murphy and Indra have to deal with Nikki gaining control of Sanctum and putting their people at risk. They have to work together with Sheidheda, which finally gives him the freedom to take his power back and slaught...

Or maybe we don't have to, but we are going back. It's been building up to this, with the history and mythology of The 100 taking us into the past.

But things are never what they seem, which is where the real story begins.

During The 100 Season 7 Episode 8, Cadogan travels back to Earth as he finally meets Clarke and explores what that means.

Meanwhile, a look at the Second Dawn adventures raises questions about what awaits the others with present-day Cadogan and their friends who might be brainwashed now. More information also laid itself out about past seasons of the show and how it ended up that way.

"Anaconda," written by Jason Rothenberg, is creating a world before the world that started it all. It combines the mystery of the Second Dawn bunker with the Anomaly Stone's origins, and it prepares the Grounder storyline for a potential spin-off show.

When is it too late to have specific conversations?

The 100 brings that question our way while also making us wonder about the communication it is trying to have with its audience. 

During The 100 Season 7 Episode 7, Gabriel and the others allow themselves to join the cult in Bardo. Gabriel gets to help code-break while the others are presumably disciples now.

Meanwhile, Emori was trying to unite the people in Sanctum while Sheidheda had a plan to tear them apart. Murphy and Nelson were the pawns stuck in the middle of the Sanctum chessboard, and Emori's life is now on the line.

Last but not least, Clarke and the others arrived in Bardo only to find out that Bellamy "died." And somewhere more suspicious, Anders woke up The Shepherd, who turned out to be Cadogan.
