Sixteen or more castaways are split between two or more "Tribes", are taken to a remote isolated location and are forced to live off the land with meager supplies for roughly 39 days. Frequent physical challenges are used to pit the tribes against each other for Rewards, such as food or luxuries, or for "Immunity", forcing the other tribe to attend "Tribal Council", where they more
...must vote off one of their players. Once about half the players are remaining, the tribes are merged into a single tribe, and competitions are on an individual basis; winning Immunity prevents that player from being voted out, while several that are voted out at this stage form the game's "Jury". Once down to two or three people, a Final Tribal Council is held where the remaining players plead their case to the jury members. The jury then votes for which player should be considered the "Sole Survivor" and win the $1 million prize. Survivor has introduced numerous modifications, or "twists", on the core rules in order to keep the players on their toes and to prevent players from relying on strategies that succeeded in prior seasons. These changes have included tribal switches, seasons starting with more than two tribes, the ability to exile a player from a tribe for a short time, Hidden Immunity Idols that players can use to save themselves at Tribal Council and a chance to return to regular gameplay after elimination through "Redemption Island".

Mike White Found Enlightenment by Competing on ‘Survivor’ — Where Even His Agent Couldn’t Find Him

Mike White’s agent was not thrilled to learn that he was disappearing off the grid for another reality TV adventure. The filmmaker, who had previously appeared on “The Amazing Race,” had finally achieved his dream of competing on “Survivor” — but that meant being completely unreachable for more than a month. “It’s so funny, they’re literally the last to know,” White said of his reps at UTA. “You’re not supposed to tell anyone, but I told my boyfriend and my parents that I&rsquo... more Comments

'Survivor: Ghost Island': Who Was Voted Off in 'It's Like the Perfect Crime'?

Last week on Survivor: Ghost Island, Michael earned the most number of votes but because he used his hidden Immunity Idol, he was able to save himself. On the other hand, Libby, who had four votes, was voted off in 9th place--joining Chris as the second member of the jury. Heading into this week's Tribal Council, it's easy to assume that Michael will once again be the target. But that might not be the case in "It's Like the Perfect Crime."  For this week's Reward Challenge, the 11 remaining players are divided into two... more Comments

Did Angela Just Emerge as the Dark Horse of 'Survivor: Ghost Island'?

The merge episode of Survivor: Ghost Island didn't play out in the usual way. The merge usually is about highlighting the biggest players of the season and showing off the real threats starting to emerge. Instead the merge was all about the final showdown between Domenick and Chris, which Chris lost. Yet with Chris out of the way, Survivor: Ghost Island was able to open up in the second post-merge episode. Lavita finally felt like a merged tribe and the season gave way to a surprising new power player, Angela. The ... more Comments

'Survivor: Ghost Island': Who Was Voted Off in "The Sea Slug Slugger"?

In the last episode of  Survivor: Ghost Island, Chris was voted out, making him the first member of the jury. Kellyn, on the other hand, won the first individual immunity challenge. With only 12 castaways remaining, three hidden immunity idols in play (with Domenick, Wendell and Michael) and one special power (Kellyn's vote stealer), we head into the highly anticipated food challenge in "The Sea Slug Slugger." But first it's time for the reward challenge called "Gone Shootin," where the 12 castaways are divided into two teams ... more Comments

Will the 'Survivor: Ghost Island' Players Regret Voting out Bradley?

The Naviti tribe delivered a big victory for the sanity of Survivor: Ghost Island viewers by voting out Bradley. Since the very start of Ghost Island, Bradley has been obnoxiously overconfident. Yet right before the merge, Nativti blindsided Bradley, tired of his bossiness and overall unlikability. It's impossible to mourn Bradley's "loss" but getting rid of him might not have been the best strategic move for his (former) allies. A Useful, Arrogant Idiot It's hard to blame Domenick and Chelsea ... more Comments

'Survivor' Host Jeff Probst on the Best and Worst Players to Watch on 'Ghost Island'

Survivor: Ghost Island hasn't premiered yet but host Jeff Probst is already making his predictions based on his first impression of the cast. So who has a good chance of winning and who might be in trouble? In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Probst mentioned several names that might end up winning season 36. The first on Probst's list is Bradley Kleihege, the 26-year-old law student from Haslett, MI. "I love Bradley because Bradley... more Comments

[VIDEO] The Naviti Tribe Could Cannibalize the Strongest Players on 'Survivor: Ghost Island'

After way too many consecutive seasons of the tribes being divided over gimmicky twists (or just having returning players), Survivor: Ghost Island is getting back to basics. While the season will be full of motifs from Survivor past, it'll also just have two tribes of diverse and interesting castaways. Ghost Island looks like it'll be a lot of fun to watch with a welcome return to a familiar format. However, one of the two tribes, Naviti, might have a few too many big... more Comments

Survivor: Ghost Island is set to be the most fan-service-heavy season of the series yet. Objects and twists from classic Survivor mistakes and failures will be making their return, giving Ghost Island its gimmick. Since Ghost Island relies on a lot of fan knowledge, Survivor has found some enthusiastic fans to be the castaways. The members of Ghost Island's Malolo and Naviti tribes are ready... more Comments
