Blood of My Blood

The Fraser homestead has barely been lived in and it's already time to build an addition to accommodate guests! It sure looks cozy with the fireplace lit and the dinner table set, but if Outlander Season 4 Episode 6 proved anything about Fraser's Ridge, it's that the long-wed couple needs to expand. Not only are they sharing their home with Ian, but Murtagh was visiting, and Lord John popped 'round with William in tow for an unexpected and welcome surprise. ... more

Savages

Crikey. The books are too long to jam into short seasons. That's the deal here. The characters don't have any time to breathe and settle into their lives on screen, and the result becomes episodes such as Outlander Season 4 Episode 5, in which Claire is traumatized once again. The significant issue the series runs into with its cramped pacing is the attempt to log all the seminal moments without the subtle beauty that makes a couple come alive. A couple like Claire and Jamie d... more

Common Ground

I guess Claire wasn't up-to-date enough in SJW politics by the time she passed through the stones to quell her fears about Indians. So, on Outlander Season 4 Episode 4 the Cherokee were seen through the eyes of someone from her time, and that included the term Indians and being fearful of living near them. Well, at least Claire was concerned. Jamie was a bit more even-keeled. He's practically one of them, after all. Yes, Governor Tryon compared Highlanders to the "savages" wh... more

'Outlander' Recap: Claire Encounters 'Savages' and Jamie Reunites with an Old Friend

The fifth episode of “Outlander’s” fourth season, entitled “Savages,” picked up the pace dramatically, creating an intense roller coaster ride that highlighted two very different storylines for Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan), complete with an emotional reunion with an old friend. In 1767, Claire was learning to communicate with Cherokee wise woman Adawehi (Tantoo Cardinal), who is the show’s ... more

Outlander Recap

There’s a wee ceilidh going on in my heart right now, Outlander folk, and you’re all invited to join: Don those tartans and get to spinnin’, because Murtagh is back! Jamie’s godfather pops up unexpectedly — like a bearded, cranky, early Secret Santa present — in this week’s episode, while Jamie looks for some North Carolina Scots to live on Fraser’s Ridge. His sudden appearance is as much a surprise to Oldlanders as it i... more

'Outlander' Revives Fan-Favorite Character in Complicated Reunion

Going into the season, fans already knew that the Starz adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's Drums of Autumn would eventually see the return of fan-favorite character Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix), Jamie's (Sam Heughan) godfather, as executive producer Ron Moore previously saved him from his book fate of dying at the Battle of Culloden. But when he would pop back up in the story was a mystery. His change of fate had already been revealed last season when he was reunited with Jamie once at Ardsmuir prison, but his story was once again left up in th... more
