    Homecoming

Just like that, we're back in Storybrooke for some assistance from the old characters.

This show likes to beat around the bush for weeks on end and drag every little development out, but with Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 21 serving as the first half of the series finale, the action moved along at a brisker pace and was much more interesting.

I never really went into how great it is to have Wish Realm Rumple go to war with the Storybrooke iteration of the character, but it's a perfect way for the series to go out.

Rumple has struggled with his violent tendencies since this hit series debuted, and "Homecoming" proved that there was a good side of the former villain.

If you watch Once Upon a Time online, you will already be well aware at Rumple's track record for deception. I lost count over the years how many times he...

    Is This Henry Mills?

That was the hour we've all been waiting for.

The curse was finally lifted on Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 20 and the residents of Hyperion Heights are now fully aware of who they really are.

Henry was dealt a raw hand with his cursed backstory, so it was nice to see him finally relieved of the burden of thinking his family was dead and buried.

Despite Henry being torn between fact and fiction, I realized that I'd forgotten all about his family supposed dying.

The plot was put on the back burner for much of Once Upon a Time Season 7 as Henry tried (and mostly failed!) to get closer to Jacinda.

Andrew J. West's turned in a great job during the scene in which Henry complained about his past, and that he had lost his family.

  • Gothel Threatens to Kill Someone Tilly Loves

Gothel Threatens to Kill Someone Tilly Loves In the nineteenth episode of season 7 of Once Upon a Time, titled "Flower Child," flashbacks reveal Gothel's origin story as she seeks revenge when her home is destroyed. Meanwhile, in present-day Hyperion Heights, Tilly is forced to make a dangerous decision when someone she loves is put in danger, and Lucy is disappointed when Henry and Jacinda's new closeness doesn't lead to the result she was hoping for. (As before, if a character is awake, I will refer to them by their real name or put their cursed name in quotation marks.)
    Gothel's Backstory is Revealed
In flashbacks, we see a young Gothel watching a group of girls try on fancy dresses. When the girls are out of view, Gothel sneaks into their home and begins to touch the dresses. She uses magic to fix the flower decorating one dress, but she's caught in the act by the girls. Instead of being angry or scared, the girls are intrigued by Gothel's magic. They ask Gothel if she'll teach them magic and they inv...

Mother Gothel was only ever looking for a way to fit in with the humans.

We finally learned the truth about the villain's past on Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 19, and it was about time.

Her storyline has been dragged out for dear life, and I would not have been opposed to Once Upon a Time Season 7 having a shorter order if it meant less of the irrelevant stuff.

What was great about the flashbacks to the other realm were that they filled in all of the blanks. I thought the powers that be were going to change things up and have Gothel as the root of all evil.

In reality, she was a tree nymph who was looking for fulfillment, and fulfillment to her was making friends with the people who weren't like her: The humans.

Did anyone else get severe Carrie vibes after her family was killed, her home burnt down and she returned to the ball with her long red hair and dirt all over her?

  • Rumple Betrays Regina

Rumple Betrays Regina In the eighteenth episode of season 7 of Once Upon a Time, titled "The Guardian," Rumple seeks Alice's help in reuniting with Belle, but things do not go as planned. Meanwhile, in present-day Hyperion Heights, Tilly and Margot go on a date, Henry searches for answers, and "Weaver"/Rumple goes to extremes to find the Dark One dagger after it goes missing. (As before, if a character is awake, I will refer to them by their real name or put their cursed name in quotation marks.)
Rumple Turns to Alice for Help
As the episode begins, we find Rumple talking to his deceased wife in the Enchanted Forest 2.0. It hasn't been very long since Belle died, but Rumple feels like it's been an eternity. Rumple's one-sided conversation is interrupted by Dr. Facilier. Facilier shows up claiming he can talk to the dead and that he's come to help Rumple. He knows Rumple wants to get rid of the Dark One's dagger and he's willing to take it off Rumple's hands. Alas, when Facilier trie...

    The Guardian

Well, Rumple is back up to his old tricks, and it's kind of fitting when you consider the fact there are just a handful of episodes left.

Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 18 gave us some compelling stories, but there were also some downright silly choices from some of the characters.

Rumple and Alice's scenes together were all great. Just when it seemed like Rumple was too far gone in his quest to be reunited with Belle, he proved that there were still some redeeming qualities about him.

And it was about time. Yes, he put poor Alice in the terrible situation by trying to have her kill Facilier, but he came through in the end.

Making Alice the Guardian was also a good choice, but it was a little predictable. I did like that Rumple heard Belle's voice when it seemed like Alice was going to absorb the dagger's power and become the new villain.

The more telling part of it came when Rumple admitted that it was a burden ...

Zelena Confronts the Candy Killer In the seventeenth episode of season 7 of Once Upon a Time, titled "Chosen," series star Lana Parrilla makes her directorial debut in an episode that finds Zelena learning a harsh truth after a disastrous encounter with Hansel and Gretel. Meanwhile, in present-day Hyperion Heights, Henry tries to get through to "Nick"/Hansel, Rogers learns the identity of the Candy Killer, and "Kelly"/Zelena worries when someone she loves is put in danger. Nick's reign of terror against the witches of Hyperion Heights is finally over.

Former Wicked Witch, Zelena, was front and center on Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 17, and it resulted in the most enjoyable episode of the series in quite some time.

If this hour proved anything, it was that Zelena had an identity crisis, and she needed to snap out of it, but that involved looking into the past.

Let's just say Zelena had a reputation and she wanted to leave that in her rear-view mirror. It was fitting that her cursed life was not a curse for her, and proved that the former villain could leave magic behind in the name of love.

Witch: Don't be shy. I made these, just for you two.
Gretel: We can't eat anymore. Please.
Witch: Don't you know there are starving children in Arendelle? Now, mungie, I need you to be plump and juicy for my full moon feast.

That was a bit all over the place, Once Upon a Time!

With this once-hot ABC drama gearing up to come to a close, fans have been wondering just how the whole thing is going to end.

On Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 16, two of the series' most-loved characters were put in danger, but will any harm to come them?

It's hard to imagine Zelena or Henry not surviving Once Upon a Time Season 7. They are both big characters and fans will be clamoring for them both to get happy endings.

We already knew Henry was going to find himself in the clutches of Nick aka Hansel, but adding Kelly into the mix was just plain rude.

What was more frustrating about Henry's side of things was that it came at the time he realized there was actually something there between him and Jacinda.
