    Welcome to Christmasland

Christmasland is not for the faint of heart.

On NOS4A2 Season 2 Episode 9, Vic and Maggie were ready to take on Charlie Manx, once and for all. Unfortunately, their plan reeked more of desperation than strategy.

When you're fighting a vampire with an army, you're going to want to be prepared for anything that can happen. The bombs were a nice touch, but they already failed on NOS4A2 Season 2 Episode 8.

If they worked, then Chris McQueen would be alive and kicking. Still, I get the need for the stakes to be raised.

Vic always seems to be losing something or someone, and it's a real shame. She's desperate to be a good mother, but she understands the true extent of Charlie's grasp.

He successfully turned Wayne against her, resulting in the child stabbing her when she thought the madness was over. I'm certain there's no way Wayne and Vic will be able to put the horrors of Christmasland behind them.

Once again, this show proves that it is in a different league when it comes to fleshing out characters.

NOS4A2 Season 2 Episode 8 put the spotlight on Chris McQueen, and it resulted in another terrific installment of this AMC drama.

If you watch NOS4A2 online, you know Chris has not been the best father, but learning about his past helped me understand some of his decisions.

From moving to the cabin in the woods to attempting to be a better person, it was an arc I did not expect or know that I wanted.

Deep down, Chris understood the profound effect his drinking and abusive past had on not only Vic but Linda.

Linda always said that despite his flaws, he was a good person, and I'm inclined to agree with that after witnessing the events of "Chris McQueen."

He was consumed with rage when he attacked Bing and derailed the entire rescue mission considerably.

He understandably felt bad for his ...

Who knew Charlie Manx's backstory would be so tragic?

NOS4A2 Season 2 Episode 7 was essentially a character study on the man who has all the makings of one of the biggest villains on TV.

You know a show is doing something right when it can humanize a vampire who has been kidnapping kids and taking them away from their parents and loved ones.

Charlie's childhood was tragic, what with his mother known as the woman in the bar getting paid to have sex with its patrons and Charlie's secual assault by someone he trusted.

Witnessing his past while Charlie was reflecting in the present was a great way to flesh out the vampire.

I know Christmasland was constructed as a way to take children away from bad parents, but I've never fully understood Charlie's goal. Are there limits to how many children can be held there, and what will happen if someone makes their way in there and causes destruction?

    Because, let's...

Is it just me, or does every episode of NOS4A2 Season 2 feel like it would work well as a season finale?

NOS4A2 Season 2 Episode 6 was another robust hour of this AMC drama that has been firing from all cylinders of late.

If you watch NOS4A2 online, you know Maggie has been fiercely protective of Vic since the jump, and after witnessing the compulsion Jonathan forced upon the doctor, she felt she had no other choice than to go after him.

Maggie didn't have much of a family growing up, or friends for that matter, so she looks at Vic as one of her closest friends.

Throughout NOS4A2 Season 2, she's been battling the fine line between staying safe and taking risks to keep those close to her safe.

Maggie going after Jonathan wasn't all that expected, but it resulted in one of my favorite episodes to date. If anyone was going to get the goods out of Jonathan, it was going to be Maggie.

    That being said, I figu...

Playing with narrative structure is risky, but NOS4A2 Season 2 Episode 5 was a resounding success from start to finish.

It had all the makings of a season finale, and it's fascinating to think that we still have five more episodes remaining.

Charlie Manx got his wish, and Bruce Wayne McQueen is headed to Christmasland. We knew it was coming, but the desperate mission to save the kid's life was brutal.

Charlie's revenge plot against Vic may seem like a bit much, but after hearing how he felt about being away from his minions for all those years, it makes perfect sense.

If you watch NOS4A2 online, you know he has been working under the guise of taking children away from their terrible parents, and while Vic has made some mistakes along the way, she will fight to keep Wayne safe.

Vic was forever changed after her first fight with Charlie, and her emotional issues are not going to be resolved overnight. ...

Charlie Manx is closing in, and everyone should be afraid.

NOS4A2 Season 2 Episode 4 proved that the villain would go to any lengths necessary to enact the next part of his plan.

No matter where Vic and Lou take Wayne, there's always going to be that risk that Charlie, or one of his minions, will not be that far behind.

If you watch NOS4A2 online, you know Vic has been struggling to cope. While she may look like a selfish mother to some, we need to consider how emotionally and physically taxing it would be on someone to be living with the fear that Charlie could pop up at any moment.

The most striking aspect of NOS4A2 Season 2 is how the roles have reversed between Vic and her parents. Chris, in particular, has turned over a new leaf, and maybe if he did it when Vic was a kid, they would have a better relationship.

Still, it is nice to see that Chris wants to be there for his daughter, but he probably never a...

Now that's how you bring characters together!

NOS4A2 Season 2 Episode 3 filled in some more blanks following the jump in time, and put several characters in peril, and Charlie Manx should probably be worried.

If you watch NOS4A2 online, you know Vic was determined to leave her life in Haverhill behind on NOS4A2 Season 1, and to go to a prestigious college that would give her the best start in life.

She had an abusive father who couldn't get by without drinking alcohol and a mother who seemed resigned to the fact that she was not destined for greatness.

It's tragic that Vic's current predicament has her taking on the traits of both parents, and for her parents to have moved on with their lives.

Vic is now the person she did not want to be, and it seems like the roles have reversed somewhat on NOS4A2 Season 2. Vic turning to her father in her time of need was predictable, but her father being sober and living li...

    Good Father

Charlie Manx did not deserve a whole episode to flesh out what we already knew.

NOS4A2 Season 2 Episode 2 was all about filling in the supposed blanks in his tale, while simultaneously revealing his next mission, and it was a surprisingly dull affair.

It was evident his relationship with Cassie was not going to excel or we wouldn't have Christmasland today.

Cassie was a realist, and Charlie was a dreamer, so it was obvious where the flaws in their relationship emerged. Cassie was concerned with the here and now, and Charlie was more concerned with making something of himself.

I appreciated that Cassie's father balked at the idea of giving Charlie the capital needed to get his fleet off the ground. Charlie's ramblings about a proposal proved that he had already thought this idea through.

Unfortunately, at least in business, if the person handing over the cash does not believe in the idea, there's a zero percen...
