Premiere Is the Truth Meant to be Forgotten?

Heroes Reborn picks up five years after the events of the Heroes Season 4 finale with an episode of the same title, "Brave New World." When we last visited this world, Claire Bennett revealed the truth about her abilities letting everyone in on the secret that some people had abilities.

The following four years brought a peaceful coexistence between people without powers and those with powers called EVOs. That peace ended in Odessa on June 13th when a terrorist bomb killed many during a rally at Primatech. The story picks up a year after the attack with EVOs are being targeted, captured and killed.

    Brave New World

EVOs are being targeted across the globe and are struggling to create a resistance to protect their kind. In Chicago, a group of EVOs meet in secret in the hopes of working together to protect themselves.

High school student, Tommy Clarke, shows up and finds one of his teachers there, Coach Lewis. Tommy wants help in controllin...

    Who are the Villains?

Heroes Reborn Season 1 Episode 3, "Under the Mask," finds several people on different missions for the greater good. The problem is many of them are running on conflicting trajectories, so which ones are actually on a righteous path?

Who are the heroes and who are the villains? Or does it all come down to point of view?

Noah Finds Out Where He Went on June 13th

After leaving the old Primatech facility in Odessa, Noah and Quentin hot wire a truck to escape. They head to a hospital so Quentin can have his gun shot (or nail gun as he reports it) wound fixed up. At the hospital, Noah runs into a doctor who recognizes him from his hospital visit on June 13th. Could be this the answer to revealing Noah's missing memories?

Maybe not. The doctor secretly calls for security to apprehend Noah. After Quentin's done being patched up, he overhears the guards discussing Noah on the walkie talkies. Meanwhile, Noah figures out something's not right, tak...

    Butterflies in the Arctic

One aspect of the original Heroes series that I've enjoyed in the story's return is the voiceover. As Heroes Reborn, "The Needs of the Many," opened, we were presented with a profound, yet poignant question about what is a person's purpose and how does it develop.

As the hour played out, we saw memories of joy and existences of sorrows. Love, loss, achievements and suffering. All of those experiences have prepared those who will be called on to save the world. Will they be able to find it within themselves to save the world? We'll have to wait to find out.

    Love for a Mother

After the accident, Tommy and his mother are trapped in the wrecked vehicle with men coming after them. Now that Tommy understands his ability better, he's able to teleport himself out of the car and his mother to the hospital. When he's faced with the decision to potentially out himself as an Evo or risk losing his mother, he doesn't hesitate and has his blood t...

    The Cataclysmic Event Revealed

The end of the world is coming and it's terrifying, though perhaps even more disturbing is the fact that Erica and her followers are looking forward to the cataclysmic event. On Heroes Reborn Season 1 Episode 5, "The Lion's Den," plans are revealed on both sides. Depending which force succeeds, the world as we know it will either be saved or destroyed.

To Save the World or Let it Be Destroyed

It's Noah, Quentin and Taylor against the self-righteous Erica with help from Harris and her minions in the battle for the world's future. Erica believes she's right in harnessing the power of Evos to ensure the extinction event occurs. She and her people use EPIC in the search of Malina and others who may be able to stop it.

After hearing Erica's plans, Taylor turns on her mother and draws her home so Noah can confront the Renautas chief. The heartbroken mother has no respect for Noah and his decision to have his mind wiped of the truth. Erica knows what happene...

    Is Claire Bennett really dead?

If Heroes Reborn Season 1 Episode 3 is to be believed, then she probably is. Sure, we don't quite know whether that scene with HRG looking at the blonde is actually her because let's face it – his reaction could have meant either outcome for the supposedly invincible character.

I understand why there are a lot of people clamoring for her to be alive and present, but at the same time, she became such a poorly written character the last time round and was tedious at times. The further she is away from the narrative, the better.

Is anyone else really digging the pairing of Quentin and HRG? I know I am! The two of them going off on an adventure together made for some pretty fine TV. They are both very witty characters and it's pretty obvious that Noah does actually like him. Noah always comes across as rather hostile to people initially. He's not known for welcoming people with open arms. He seems to have a thing for roug...

    The Needs of the Many

    RIP Molly.

Heroes Reborn Season 1 Episode 4 forced us to say goodbye to Molly and it really stung. She has been one of the better characters in this reboot and to have her die so soon feels like a bit of a waste, but it should help advance the story better now that the stakes have been raised.

It was also horrible that she took her own life. I get that she didn't want a life like the one she had years back, but would it have been too difficult for her to give Noah some pointers before she went on over to the Evo afterlife? Geez, girl.

Taylor, who has been a very interesting character thus far, got pretty tedious this week. It was obvious she was going to question her mother's true intentions and find herself on the opposing side. Deep down, Taylor knows that what her mother is up to isn't all that humane, and that's why she'll stick it out with Noah.

    Noah Bennett, the original...

Okay, now I'm convinced that the world needs saving.

Heroes Reborn Season 1 Episode 5 painted a picture of a serious, terrifying threat to the world and its inhabitants, more so than the original series was ever able to do.

The simulation we saw of Erica's machine was scary. The details are still a bit fuzzy, but it sure sounds like her plan is to destroy the world and everyone on it and start over from scratch.

A villain who believes in the righteousness of her cause is a deadly kind of villain, and Erica is exactly that. She's a person with power and horrific ideology. That makes her very interesting, and very dangerous.

She believes that what she's doing is right, that it is protecting the human species. She believes with all her might that she is justified in harvesting the power of evolved humans and in ending the world as we know it for her own agenda.

What I want to know is what Noah knew about this before he decided to Hai...

  • Erica's Past is Revealed

Erica's Past is Revealed Company Woman" is the second-to-last Heroes Reborn ever. Now that the series has been cancelled, there should be an extra feeling of closure and finality to the proceedings. Sadly, the exact opposite seems to be happening. While I'm sure the Heroes Reborn finale will have some kind of conclusion, "Company Woman" was a plodding and oddly-paced penultimate episode. Rather than focus mostly on Tommy and Malina's joint venture to save the world, Erica Kravid was given a spotlight episode. I suppose it's not the worst idea for Heroes Reborn to give their main villain a backstory but it should have happened at least three episodes ago.

    Family Reunions

While everyone is freaking out about the end of the world and Erica being revealed to be a huge liar, Matt Parkman has other things on his mind. He is thinking of himself. Parkman breaks into Erica's office with Taylor. Like the angry, sweaty, little big meatball he is, Parkman uses his mind control t...

Can the solar flares come and save this mess?

On Heroes Reborn Season 1 Episode 12, we got one step closer to this whole nightmare being over. I'm not going to deny that the outing was a cut above Heroes Reborn Season 1 Episode 11 (which was atrocious), but there were still a lot of problems.

Primarily, the issue that has plagued this series from the start is the lack of decent characters. Right now, Ren is the only likeable fellow on the show. He's barely had any screen time, but his return was refreshing. It almost made me forgive how all over the place the rest of the show has been.

Erica's back story didn't interest me in the slightest. This woman is pure evil, and it felt kind of fulfilling that Taylor told her she'd rather die than go to the new world with her. I was pretty sure Taylor was going to kill herself when she realized that her baby daddy was dead. Perhaps she figured she'd be dead when the solar flares arrive, anyway.

    The...

  • The Battle of Sunstone Manor Concludes

The Battle of Sunstone Manor Concludes While watching Heroes Reborn I was surprised by how much I missed the show in its far too long absence. The multiple month long break was a very big mistake because "Send in the Clones" picks up right where "11:53 to Odessa" left off. It is not a natural break at all. Yet while the break was weird and the episode itself is kind of a mess, Heroes Reborn is still a lot of fun. It is confusing, chaotic and often riddled with logic problems but there is nothing quite like it on TV (at this moment) that moves as briskly as this series. Even a bad episode will no doubt have more than a few stellar moments and "Send in the Clones" is a perfect example. It is Heroes Reborn at its best and worst.

    Future Follies

The veins are a-popping in Erica's neck. She's not too happy that Katana Girl has foiled her plans once again. Away from Erica, Miko and Tommy go into full-on plotting mode to take the villainess down. Then Miko starts to arbitrarily blink out o...
