Happy Endings For All

The series finale of Downton Abbey was near-flawless, with happy endings pretty much across the board. In pure Downton fashion, the central event of Downton Abbey Season 6 Episode 9 was a wedding – Edith's. And what a wedding it was! Especially after the rather downtrodden way that Edith had closed out Downton Abbey Season 6 Episode 8. Of course, it wasn't all sunshine and roses. That would have made things intensely boring. So let's start with the bad. Probably th... more

Season 5 Premiere A Dangerous Fire Threatens the Abbey

Welcome back to the classy and soapy fun that is Downton Abbey. When we last left our above and below deck friends, Mary was fighting off suitors, Edith was finding a way to hide her illegitimate daughter, Rose was being an idiot and Mr. Bates was murdering rapists. All in a day's work at the Abbey! In the season 5 premiere, the fire in Edith's room is perhaps the least dramatic and scandalous event that transpires. Violet and Lord Grantham fight against the death of aristocracy in t... more

This is SHOCKING...

Downton Abbey Season 5 Episode 3 began exactly a week after Downton Abbey Season 5 Episode 2 concluded, with Mary and Tony at the end of their week-long getaway in London. According to Mary, after dining in public and taking in sights for almost a week it was a wonder they managed to not be seen. In a somewhat Gossip Girl fashion they were seen by someone, in the more innocent moment of checking out of the same hotel; never mind that, in fact, they had been sleeping i... more

From 'Devils' to 'Sanditon,' The Next Global Hits are Coming to Mipcom

The “Downton Abbey” effect will be felt at Mipcom, with one of the stars of the show in town to launch her new project, an ITV-Masterpiece period drama, while a number of lavish historical series ready to take the international stage. Buyers looking for thrillers or edgy contemporary dramas will also be in luck, and several shows take on the exploration of race, community or other social issues, often with complex female characters at the fore. As the annual market gets underway, Variety breaks down the dozen must-see... more

From 'Downton Abbey' to 'El Camino,' TV Drama May Be New Frontier in Hunt for Theatrical Franchises

September 20 saw three films go into wide release: One was the latest “Rambo” reboot. One was a space movie starring Brad Pitt. The third was a feature-length version of a British PBS series that’s been off the air for four years. Nearly three weeks later, “Downton Abbey” has trounced them them all, grossing $137 million worldwide. On the surface, it seems like an oddity: How did the Countess of Grantham hold her own against a well-trod genre franchise and one of the last remaining movie stars? The answer may b... more

I can't figure out how to use this. I love Downton Abbey but when I try to watch an episode it says I have watched it. I have spent so long trying to figure it out I'm about to give up!
