    Shock & Awe

    Addy is in big trouble.

That was the main takeaway you could glean from Dare Me Season 1 Episode 10, a season finale that left a lot of questions on the table and a lot to be desired.

It’s been a topsy turvy first season for the dark drama, and this final hour was another mixed bag of treats.

The pervading theme of the season has been a combination of many things, including friendship, manipulation, and obsession.

Beth began the series as a self-absorbed brat, who from the outside was hard to connect with. But as the story unfolded, Beth’s walls began to come down slowly, and it became obvious that she was just a young girl who’d never had anyone in her life stick around long enough to be truly present and there for her.

She thought she’d found that in Addy. And she had until Colette French showed up.

It felt a lot like jealousy in the beginning, as Addy gravitated towards Colette and left Beth once again on ...

Beth should look into a private investigation career when she grows up.

She has an innate way of reading people and piecing a puzzle together, and it was on full display during Dare Me Season 1 Episode 9.

With only one episode left this season, you have to consider putting your money on Beth getting to the bottom of Will’s death before the police.

Will’s suicide sent the town of Sutton Grove into a frenzy, and it was interesting to see the many conversations surrounding just why Will would have killed himself.

The audience saw firsthand the isolation of Will in his dark apartment staring out at a dilapidated skyline, but for the people he came into contact with, it’s clear they were shocked he would harm himself.

Beth: Fucks you up. Suicide. The people you've left behind, you have dumped this dark thing on them, ya know? They're left wondering if they could have stopped it. What they could have done. No...

Things are finally starting to get a little interesting.

Dare Me Season 1 Episode 8 picks up right where we left off, with Addy wading around Will’s dead body and Colette talking in circles.

It was a surreal scene honestly, as each woman had a viscerally different reaction to the scene around them.

Colette had a relationship with Will, a pretty intense one, yet she seemed so far removed from what was actually in front of her.

And to be fair, people handle shock differently. But boy did Colette act like someone who had something to hide.

Her version of events was plausible, but her actions post finding the body were rather suspicious.

For starters, why did she call Addy? She can spin this idea of wanting a friend there for support, but it still doesn’t make a bit of sense. If you come upon your former lover deceased, you’re not going to call someone else you supposedly care about to the scene and now involve t...

We were promised a death. And we got one.

Dare Me Season 1 Episode 7 took us to Regionals, where the ladies competed and the relationship between Addy and Beth crumbled.

    Potentially for good.

The squad rolls into Regionals ready to make a statement, and the girls don’t even seem that stressed.

    Everyone but Addy that is.

While all the girls are getting into their shenanigans, she’s content to hang back and stay above the debauchery. And let's be real, she much prefers the company of Colette to pretty much anyone else.

Even though Addy and Beth have been on shaky ground for quite some time, they start the day off at Regionals in a good place.

Beth looks more at ease than she has in a while, and Addy even makes a commitment to spend time with her.

But when Colette comes a calling, there’s just nowhere else Addy would rather be.

And it’s horrendous timing, as Beth could have...

Will the real Colette French please stand up?

It’s been easy to feel sympathy for the young wife and mother who carries the world on her shoulders, there’s something else brewing inside of her that is far from meek and overwhelmed.

And it was on full display during Dare Me Season 1 Episode 6 when Colette’s motives were called into question.

Beth has been suspicious of Colette from the start, and while it just seemed like a jealousy thing rooted in issues far deeper than Beth can even understand, the more we peer into Colette the more suspicious she becomes.

Her relationship with Addy is all kinds of wrong, and the decisions she’s making in regards to Will are puzzling at best.

Realizing that maybe you shouldn’t be having an affair with your old high school fling was the right decision, but there has been no communication on Colette’s part.

She’s left him high and dry with no explanation, and given the sadness...

Did you know that putting a knocked-out tooth in milk could save it from dying?

Well, if you weren’t aware, Dare Me Season 1 Episode 5 clued you into that nifty piece of information, as a member of the Sutton Grove cheerleading squad suffered a horrific injury and saw her teeth scattered across the mat.

It was a pretty traumatic experience that we got to experience three times as the show switched things up with a story from multiple perspectives.

Whenever a show employs the switching-points-of-view technique, it’s usually done to give viewers more information about the motivations or desires of the different characters involved in the scene.

It’s effective in that you can dive into the psyche of each character and see things through their eyes, and you can also see how people go through the same event and perceive it in entirely different ways.

Starting from the morning after the Playland Motel fiasco, we were treated ...

Has Dare Me finally hit its stride?

It’s taken some time for this show to find it’s identity, but Dare Me Season 1 Episode 4 did a better job than the previous installments of providing a worthwhile episode from start to finish.

Perhaps it’s because we finally got to know the central characters a little bit better.

I’ve been screaming for more Beth exposition if only to give us a sense of who she is beyond an entitled, defiant, and troubled cheerleader.

The therapy session with Bert and Tacy wasn’t long or eye-opening, but it did show the dynamic between the three in a way we hadn’t seen yet.

Beth’s resentment and anger towards both Tacy and her father have been years and years in the making. And one therapy session isn’t even going to scratch the surface of the pain Beth has in regards to the fracturing of her family.

Beth: Can you imagine if someone actually wanted to take advantage of her? ...

How close is too close for a coach and her students?

That's a central question throughout Dare Me Season 1 Episode 3, as Colette gets closer and closer to Addy and also endears herself to the rest of the squad after a rager at her home.

Well, she endeared herself to everyone but Beth, who still isn't buying what Colette is selling.

Addy is a teenager, and thus she's impressionable, and to her, Colette is unlike anyone else she has in her life.

To her, it feels like Colette sees her and appreciates her. She's more than just Beth's sidekick when she's hanging at Colette's house. And it feels her with a sense of importance.

You could argue that part of the reason Colette is so eager to be Addy's buddy is that she needs her to keep quiet about Will, but she also seems to like Addy.

But their relationship is starting to getting blurry.

Colette, Will, and Addy's woodsy rendevous felt strange,...

Colette French doesn't know what she wants.

Dare Me Season 1 Episode 2 saw her flip-flop back and forth between what she perceived as doing the right thing versus following her heart.

And while she went back and forth, she put her trust in Addy and Beth to keep their mouths shut about what they saw.

Naturally, Colette didn't want all of her business blasted all over the place, and she implored Beth and Addy to keep her secret.

She invoked a lot of coach speech, mentioning being part of a team and such, and it fell on deaf ears as far as Beth was concerned.

It was surprising that Colette took such a somber approach to such a huge predicament. She and Beth haven't gotten along since the moment Colette stepped foot in the gym, yet there was no sense of urgency to keeping Beth quiet.

Colette already knows that she has Addy in her back pocket, but Beth is a wildcard.

    Then again, Colette mig...

Welcome to Sutton Grove. The land of Friday night football games, late-night bonfires, underage drinking, and cheerleaders galore.

It’s a Midwestern town that’s seen better days, and like many small towns across the states, it has been hit hard by the wayward economy.

But Sutton Grove and its decline are just a piece of the story Dare Me Season 1 Episode 1 begins to tell.

Mainstream movies about cheerleading tend to air on the side of comedy, but the world of Dare Me takes a different approach with the sport.

The world of competitive cheerleading, much like high school football, is a business. A lot of money is pumped into these programs, and high expectations are placed.

Colette French is recruited and brought in to bring the program to prominence and, in turn, help turn the town around. It's an awful lot of pressure to put on a young woman and it's unclear is Colette is truly ready for the challenge.
