Set in Pittsburgh, Dance Moms follows the Abby Lee Dance Company's Junior Elite Competition Team of young girls aged 11–14 years old as they travel week-to-week to various dance competitions, winning awards and hoping for an invitation to one of the National Competitions. Much of the program depicts the doting mothers as rivals not only of each other but as a group to protect t more
...he reputation of the team. All performances are choreographed by Miller and her staff, with the exception of a few guest choreographers. Later in the program, rival dance teams are introduced that spur the team's competitiveness. In season 5, Miller brings the team to Los Angeles to help build her repertoire. Every week on the show, Miller uses a pyramid to present who she feels performed the best in her eyes based on behavior, previous performance and who needs to improve.

Season 7 Finale Do the Irreplaceables Win at Nationals? In the two-part season 7 finale of Dance Moms, titled, "Under Cheryl's Spell"/"The Best is Yet to Come," with the future of The Irreplaceables uncertain, the girls head into their last two competitions with self-doubt and the usual mama drama.

The ALDC team may be done, but The Irreplaceables still have their eyes on a national title. They have a long way to go, though, and things get off to a rocky start when Jill announces that she and Kendall won't be around for the next competition. Jill has a prior commitment, which leaves the former elite team one dancer short.

    Witches and Bitches

The team has one more competition before the big finale, Innovation Dance Competition. The group dance is titled "The Coven," and the theme is pretty obvious. Cheryl "jokes" that the girls will be witches while their mom are "bitches." Cheryl decides to bring in another girl, which isn't welcome news to the moms. Cheryl is convinced that they can't win with four....

  • Cheryl Burke Steps in and Ashlee Makes a Shocking Decision

Cheryl Burke Steps in and Ashlee Makes a Shocking Decision In this episode of Dance Moms, titled "Everyone's Replaceable ... Even Abby," Ashlee and Christi engage in a war of words on social media, celebrity choreographer Cheryl Burke works with The Irreplaceables, and Ashlee drops a bomb.

Both dance teams are dealing with new challenges. Abby announces on social media that she will not be returning to coach for the remainder of the season, and The Irreplaceables have sparked some controversy with their risque burlesque number. All of this and Nationals are only two weeks away.

    Dancing with a Star

While Jill claims to be shocked by the news of Abby's departure, she seems to forget that she and all of the other mothers were unsure of Abby's future plans, which is one of the main reasons why they left. Meanwhile, Ashlee has been busy bashing The Irreplaceables routine, the girls and their mothers. (She's a peach, that one.) Holly stands behind the dance, stating that anyone who didn't get it is "uncultured...

Why Does Abby Storm Out of a Group Routine? In this episode of Dance Moms, titled "There's a New Team in Town Part 2," the ALDC faces off against The Irreplaceables, which creates drama offstage, and Abby can't bring herself to face her former students.

The ALDC and The Irreplaceables show up at the FIERCE National Dance Competition. Ashlee immediately goes after Camille, calling the woman a piece of shit. Ashlee's upset that during the Happy Hour from hell, Camille accused Brynn of lying about Camille and Camryn showing up at the ALDC studio. Camille gets fired up, and the two start shouting and swearing in front of a group of young fans. Deciding that this might be inappropriate behavior, the groups go to their separate dressing rooms, tabling the Camille-Ashlee drama for later.

    Mommies' Girls

The Irreplaceables' moms realize they need to focus on winning because the last thing they want is for people to believe their girls can't bring their A-game without Abby. Aisha arrives, and she's...

How Do the Moms React When Abby Brings in a Ringer? In this episode of Dance Moms, titled "There's a New Team in Town Part 1," Abby's former elite team struggles with a new routine, a bitter Abby brings in a ringer, Ashlee stirs the pot and everything is on the line for all the mothers and daughters as they prepare to compete.

There's been some confusion regarding whether Dance Moms has been canceled or not. The latest update I could find is that the show will not be ending on October 31 as originally reported. Truthfully, it is time for Dance Moms to take its final bow with Abby Lee smuggling fruit in prison (literally) and many of the dancers moving onwards and upwards after suffering years of verbal and emotional abuse from Abby. But it looks like Lifetime is determined to capitalize on stage-mom craziness for as long as they can.

Out with the Old and In with the New-ish

And then there were four. With the mass exodus of Abby's best dancers, only Elliana, Lilliana, Brynn and Maesi...

Is It the End of the Road for the ALDC? In this episode of Dance Moms, titled "Ashlee's Big Decision Part 2," the future of the ALDC rests on the youngest members of the team; Holly, Jill and Kira find closure; and Ashlee has second thoughts.

Just when you thought Abby Lee Miller couldn't be any less likable, she squandered what little goodwill viewers may have had left when she returned to the studio after several weeks without so much as an apology or explanation for abandoning her team. Yolanda and Stacey, who are so fame hungry they're willing to swallow anything Abby shoves down their throats in exchange for their daughters to dance, are more than happy to remain Abby's faithful minions. Jaime had a change of heart as well and endured being called a "bitch" by Abby so that her daughter could get a solo. The other moms stood tough, and the older girls worked to choreograph their own group routine, preparing to face off against the ALDC.

  • Laurieann Gets Confrontational During a Competition

Laurieann Gets Confrontational During a Competition In this episode of Dance Moms, titled "Stamina, Stamina, Stamina," Laurieann pushes the girls even harder. And some of the moms question the methods of Laurieann, who is determined to deliver a win.

It's only six weeks until Nationals, and the ALDC is on a losing streak. Some of the moms are worried they're going to look foolish for bringing in Laurieann. Holly would rather lose with something strong than win with something bad, but Ashlee -- who seems to have developed a nervous blinking problem -- is missing Abby, who knew the formula for winning dance competitions. Now, is this about winning or about training your kids to be good dancers?

    The Blame Game

Laurieann blames the ALDC's most recent loss on everything except her choreography. Her main concern is the girls' lack of stamina -- a word Kira can't pronounce without some help from a producer. She lets the girls know that if they're okay winning with the same tired routines, then she doesn'...

Things Get Physical Between Two of the Moms

On this episode of Dance Moms, "All Choked Up," Laurieann is determined to bring home a win, but friction between the moms threatens the ALDC's chances.

Abby remains MIA, so Laurieann is back. Jill is worried that her fight with Christi at the last dance competition could drive Laurieann off, so she knows the moms need to get their acts together and keep things drama-free.

    The A-list

None of the soloists placed, and the group routine came in fourth, so Laurieann starts out admitting that she feels a little "undone." Laurieann feels like the girls are still fearful of Abby Lee and afraid to be themselves. She's come back to face that challenge,

Laurieann doesn't do a pyramid, opting instead for an "A-list." It's pretty much the same idea. She unveils each girl's picture and gives them a critique. Brynn is on the bottom because Laurieann believes she's taking the easy way out by relying on her looks. Next up is Kendall, who Laurieann wants to...

Jill and Christi's Drama Overshadows Chloe's Return In this episode of Dance Moms, titled "Out with Abby, In With Chloe -- Part 2," Christi and Jill's arguing brings unnecessary drama, the moms question if Laurieann's choreography will impress Chloe's returns to the stage after a three-year absence and the moms wonder what comes next for the ALDC.

Things pick up right where they left off, with Christi and Jill at each other's throats and their girls in tears. Fill-in teacher and name-dropper Laurieann Gibson has worked with her fair share of divas, but I don't think she expected to see this kind of behavior from a bunch of moms at a dance competition. Laurieann urges the moms to rise above, but Jill wants to make it clear that Christi is in the wrong for accusing Kendall of never calling Chloe after she left the ALDC. Laurieann says Jill will get her chance to "clap back," but for now they need to keep their eyes on the prize. Laurieann views this all as a mess that Abby has left behind for her to clean up.

Can a New Teacher Shake Things Up? In this episode of Dance Moms, titled "Out with Abby, In with Chloe -- Part 1," a new teacher shakes things up at the ALDC, the moms gets news about Abby's sentencing, and Christi and Chloe have a rocky reunion with their former dance team.

In case you haven't heard the sad news, Abby Lee Miller was eaten by a shark while in London. Okay, it was in Sharknado 5, but one can dream. Now, onto the dancers and the stage moms who are causing them thousands in future therapy bills.

    New Teacher, New Attitude

It's two days until Abby's sentencing, and it's all the moms can talk about. Will she get probation? Will she go to jail? Will she have a guest appearance in the next season of Orange is the New Black? (Okay, that one is all me.)

Laurieann Gibson is in the house, and she describes herself as a "choreographer, creative director, world changer, dream fighter and a creative visionary to today's hottest superstars." If you want to kn...
