  • I'm In Love

    I'm In Love

The end is never easy to reach, especially when it is so well written.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend approached their series finale with just as much care and thoughtfulness as they have the whole season. Their lead character's happiness becomes a priority, and in a way teaches the audience about putting themselves first.

Self-reflection and self-care play a significant role in why this finale is the essence of what made the show so wonderful.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 17, Rebecca was faced with her future, and she couldn't make a proper decision because something was holding her back.

After taking a look at her subconscious, she sees that she doesn't know who she is. She is so focused on choosing a guy that in a way she risks herself in the process.

So her last musical number alerts Paula to this pattern that she has, which convinces Rebecca to invest in it instead of ignoring it.

  • I Have a Date Tonight

    I Have a Date Tonight

The answer is here, even if it isn't super clear.

Love isn't a game when it comes to choosing who you want to be with, and Rebecca learns that the hard way when she has three dates to help her figure out her future.

With the end in sight, having a refreshing conclusion to a long-awaited question was the perfect representation of what the show is.

It was simple and it was promising without it coming off like an actual competition with no real stakes a hand.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 16, Rebecca has her three dates and it feels like everyone and their mother wants to get involved in who they think will win all of this.

Rebecca's date with Josh becomes perfect and her date with Nathaniel feels like heaven to her. All of that ends up confusing Rebecca more, making her realize that she needs to cancel on Greg because it is too much.

But faith brings them together, and they end up at a car repair...

  • I Need to Find My Frenemy

I Need to Find My Frenemy

Open communication and decision making turned out to be the drive behind the episode this time around.

Everyone was avoiding a choice or an issue, and it was only when they stopped doing that that things improved for them for the better. In most cases at least, while in others it became more of an elaborate show.

What else would you call a three-way date to determine who Rebecca will get to be with?

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 15, Rebecca couldn't choose between Nathaniel or Josh or instead, she chose to help track down Audra.

They all stay back though, trying to figure this out once and for all, and even manage to come up with a possible scenario to win it all.

Meanwhile, Paula tries to fit in at her new job even if that includes owning really expensive clothes that she can't afford. Valencia tries to work out her relationship with Beth now that marriage is (or isn't) on the table for t...

  • I Have To Get Out

    I Have To Get Out

It all comes back to happiness, no matter who is involved.

Rebecca once again learns that everything will fall into place once she chooses her own happiness first, whether it is romantic or professional.

But Josh also learned that lesson when he reassessed his relationships, to some quite surprising results.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 13, Rebecca was trying to figure out what her dream might be for the future. But this also included embracing her treatment and facing what will happen with her and Greg.

They choose to stay friends, which makes Josh and Nathaniel happy when they find out the news. Josh realizes that he still likes Rebecca, around the same time that he comes to terms with the fact that he and Greg aren't the same kind of friends as they used to be.

Meanwhile, Paula gets to take the bar exam, and Darryl gets to meet someone he likes in the hospital waiting room.

  • I Need A Break

    I Need A Break

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend took a break from romance to make a statement about health, both mental and physical.

In a perfect parallel, the audience got to worry about two lead female characters that we adore, only for them both to end up in the same boat.

Rebecca and Paula must be protected at all times, and yet this time around it is up to them to take those steps to make sure they are okay. That fear that came with them almost suffering huge mistakes with their health was too close a call.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 12, Rebecca didn't want to take antidepressants that would help her mental health. This becomes a backslide for her in her relationship with Greg, and her relationship with herself.

Rebecca spends all night making mistakes that eventually lead her into making her mental health a priority again, which includes incorporating medication to help her with that.

Meanwhile, Paula feels horrible all d...

  • I'm Almost Over You

    I'm Almost Over You

If you love someone, let them go.

Nathaniel learns that the fun way, gaining more knowledge about romantic comedies along the way,

This was all about his progress, no matter where it may end up from here.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 11, Nathaniel was the sole focus as he tried to deal with his feelings with Rebecca while she has started dating Greg. He ends up going through a romantic comedy daydream, living out his inner dork who has to figure out a way to win the girl.

Through that, he ends up "falling" for Maya who becomes a proxy for the real Rebecca for whom he has feelings.

That is what makes him realize that Rebecca is happy and that is what he wants for her, so he has to let her go.

"I'm Almost Over You," written by the very familiar Michael Hitchcock, was a unique take on telling Nathaniel's story while also dealing with the challenge of a daydream. Nothing really happened in the r...

  • I Can Work With You

    I Can Work With You

It is all rainbows and flowers until someone overhears your happy news and makes us all as conflicted as ever.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend deserves major props for their ability to make us care about both sides of a love triangle equally, but what happens when a choice gets made?

That is definitely where the whole "why choose" conversation comes in because that is the real dilemma in all of this.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 10, Rebecca babysits Hebecca and through it connects more with her.

But it is when Greg comes over that the two finally talk about their feelings and get together officially.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel and Josh bond while trying to win the game night.

The night takes a turn though when Nathaniel overhears Rebecca filling Paula in on how happy she is to be with Greg again.

And Paula is secretly celebrating her graduating law school until she finally realizes that it is worth...

  • I'm Not the Person I Used To Be

I'm Not the Person I Used To Be

Greg is back and everything makes sense again.

More realistically though, Greg's return marks the question of identity and being able to change over time. Skylar Astin reinvents a new version of that role, proving that it is never too late to check in on an old favorite.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 8, Rebecca deals with her various growing feelings for Josh and Nathaniel by meeting Greg again and focusing on that. Greg looks different, which pushes him to try to form a bond with Rebecca again until she reveals that she slept with his father.

Meanwhile, Valencia reveals a huge secret to Heather at her high school reunion about a past ex. Turns out Father Brah had a rather dramatic love life before he chose his relationship to God.

And Josh reflects back on his time in high school, using George as a resource about everything he missed out on by being popular.

  • I Will Help You

    I Will Help You

Telling the truth will set you free.

It will also possibly lead you back into a familiar love triangle, or possibly love square if our instincts are strong enough.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 7, Rebecca goes to New York to celebrate her mother at an event while taking on a more honest approach about her life. In the meantime, Josh crashes at her house and gets a crash course in being an adult.

And Paula fills in for Rebecca at the prison, with a surprising team up with Nathaniel in the process.

Josh and Nathaniel growing as people becomes a trigger for Rebecca's old fond memories of them. She ends up conflicted on possible resurfaced feelings for two of her ex-boyfriends, which sounds like the perfect time to bring Greg back again.

"I Will Help You," written by Aline Brosh McKenna was a refreshing walk down memory lane, mostly because it served as a wonderful reminder about how far many characters have ...

  • I See You

    I See You

Unlikely friendships come from unexpected trips.

Pairing off the most unlikely people for various adventures was the perfect way for many of them to confront something they haven't realized about themselves.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 6, three different road trips bring the most unlikely pairings together. Darryl and Rebecca head out to a food place they both wanted to try, attempting to avoid stepping into the wrong topic of conversation along the way.

Heather ends up giving Nathaniel a ride when his car breaks down, and she ends up finding out more about him. Meanwhile, Paula needs to pick up a desk and ends up going with her least favorite person, Josh.

"I See You," written by Jack Dolgen was an inventive way to change things up. Letting characters grow sometimes means putting them in situations with other people that they might not usually spend time with. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend accomplished that, and it even ma...
