Can Mira pull off what she's trying to do?

On Counterpart Season 2 Episode 9, we discovered just how capable Mira is when it comes to planning the end of the crossing and her plan of vengeance beforehand. It's hard to imagine anyone will be able to stop her.

But if anyone is going to do it, Howard Prime and Baldwin appear to be the impending heroes.

In this world, there is one episode remaining to bring this beautiful series to a close. No, it's not officially canceled, but when there aren't press photos and the time got moved without so much as an announcement, I'm about to give up.

Thankfully, most of those who want to see their worlds survive aren't as eager to do that.

    Yanek was right.

Those aren't my words, but those of Howard Alpha from Counterpart Season 2 Episode 8, as he and Howard Prime grow ever more similar while living in each other's shoes.

The Howards journey to narrowing the void between them comes when Clare and Baldwin are feeling similarly with regret for what they've done to their others.

Everybody is dealing with the effects of what they have and haven't done.

There is no doubt that the understanding of two worlds and shining a light onto the alternate path you could have taken changes people.

Yanek was of a mind that the consequences had to be negative and that two sides cannot coexist.

Many of you claim watching this series often makes you more confused as time passes.

Counterpart Season 2 Episode 7 shouldn't do anything to make that situation easier, as the more that gets revealed about Ian, the more difficult it is to understand. Just when it seemed he might not be that integral to the proceedings, he becomes a highlight.

Similarly, everything we thought we knew about Mira continues to unravel, as she didn't treat all of the students with the same disdain as she did Clare. What do we really know about these characters at all?

Does anybody have a good read on Wesley Pierce/Ian Shaw?

His backstory has dropped in too many short bursts to keep it straight. It was on Counterpart Season 2 Episode 2 when we saw Ian and a team infiltrating a man's house only to find he was already dead.

With the scattershot way his information has been disseminated, I'd need a lot of red string and some tacks to make sens...

    Twin Cities

Justin Marks, creator and showrunner of Counterpart, wrote and directed "Twin Cities."

That's why after watching Counterpart Season 2 Episode 6 two times it still doesn't feel like enough.

There were a lot of answers to many questions posed since the series began and the possibility came to mind that the end could be in focus. That's how important to the parallel worlds Mira has turned out to be, a supposition if posited when she was first introduced would have been hard to imagine in context.

Bringing on a megawatt star like James Cromwell to play a character as essential as Yanek should have been an indication of his importance to the overall structure of the narrative, too.

Ironically, within the framework of Counterpart Season 2, the characters who seemed essential for the survival of the series and the urgency to find out more about them suddenly doesn't seem as important. That wasn't the point, but that was the strength of ...

Cliche's suck, but that was a rollercoaster ride hour of television!

Harry Lloyd does such beautiful work with the two Quayles that they've both become essential characters. And by the end of Counterpart Season 2 Episode 5, they had both been through too much, and Lloyd's eyes were perpetually welling with tears. It was difficult to bear, dammit!

Knowing Peter Alpha would never have the guts to take his life didn't make his struggle with the idea any easier, and I've never been happier to see a slashed tire to Howard Alpha might give Peter Prime a second thought before running off with Emily Prime to safety away from Echo.

These are my Counterpart struggles, and the list is only beginning.

When the series began, there was the worry that Howard Alpha could never hold his own in the mess to which he had been lured. That is over.

Nature doesn't give a damn what you believe. Faced with survival, w...

And I thought the prison reveal was going to be exciting.

There are so many tricks up the sleeves of the Counterpart team; it's impossible to guess what's in store for the group of spies trying to keep tabs on different worlds.

"Our" Howard, Howard Alpha, will become a huge disappoint to me, personally, if he doesn't get a fire lit under his behind while inside of Echo. He didn't quite understand what "being a spy" meant before Counterpart Season 2 Episode 3, and he's only scraping the surface on his first day with the locals.

Echo wasn't as expected. The way it sounded, he was going into hell.

For those who have been there years on end as nothing but an encyclopedic knowledge of their counterparts, it probably seems like hell.

Having worked in Strategy, even in a lowly occupation like Howard A's, he knew a lot of the faces housed in the facility. He was kind of confused, though, as he called out to Marcel expecting ...

It's never been a secret that I have a fascination with parallel worlds, but it's fascinating the way things are heating up between Alpha and Prime.

Whereas the premiere centered around activity in the Alpha world, Counterpart Season 2 Episode 2 focused on what's been happening with the Prime world. With our Howard's imprisonment and the increased Indigo action, it was a better hour overall.

The most surprising element came in the way of breadcrumbs leading back to Emily Alpha's life pre-coma. Uncovering how much even Howard Prime knew of what she was into at that time should become its own thread as the season continues.

Emily P has become quite the determined woman. When she first got introduced, she was erratic and unsure of herself, grasping at renditions, and just off a phase of generally being expected to OD on drugs at any moment.

Now she's driven and with purpose. It's as if the discovery of her former husband Howard and ...

    No Man's Land, Part One

If you were waiting for the action to start, your time has come!

Counterpart Season 1 Episode 9 was full of revelations and that moment when characters who have gotten sick of standing around expecting something to happen took matters into their own hands.

Do you have questions? I know I do.

My first question goes out to those of you reading. Has anybody else become disenchanted with Baldwin's storyline?

The character has so much potential, but it's being wasted. She's not particularly tied to the group and shuffling around town living while waiting for another call from Clare isn't all that exciting.

    No, no, no!!

Only the women were making rational decisions on Counterpart Season 1 Episode 8, and with just two episodes to go to wrap Counterpart Season 1 and a guaranteed Season 2 on the way, I feel assured a heap of trouble is landing on everyone before the closing credits finish this one.

It was very frustrating watching otherwise intelligent people let their emotions get the best of them.

Once the scenes of the school and OEmily and her team stumbling upon the fire merged, I felt almost silly for not recognizing earlier that's where they were.

But like the teacher said, there is so much more for the school to accomplish that killing all of the children seemed like the last option available to them. Not only was years worth of pain and suffering and intensive training cast aside (being pragmatic here), but the loss of life was atrocious.

That they had no better plan available than treating the members of the schoo...

    The Sincerest Form of Flattery

What was your initial reaction when the credits rolled?

    Mine was, "F#@k me!"

That's because Counterpart Season 1 Episode 7 was a perfect hour. From start to finish it played out beautifully and gave Clare the history we desperately craved with a stunning finish to keep us guessing. What more could we possibly want?

Nazanin Boniadi was fantastic as Fera on Homeland, but her material as Clare is much juicer. It's a joy watching her control an entire storyline like she is here and if she seems to be locked into the spy category, her ability to train her emotions demands it.

I watched Clare be torn down as a human being, stripped of her individuality, turned into a person she didn't know to avenge a country based only on the word of a teacher and school she was taken to at the worst moment of her life.

It's time to shed the skin of your past, grow a new one, thick with anger.
