Waiting for the Man A man goes up his bedroom and tells the three women in the bed that it's his wedding night. They smile as he admires them.

A girl, Vesta Whitney, is walking through the darkness and comes to a carousel in an abandoned park. An old homeless man appears and tells her that she's going to die, but three young women dressed in white arrive and order the old man off. They then go to Vesta and asks if she's all right, and assures her that there's nothing to be scared of. The women ask if she's lonely, and Vesta says that she snuck out after she argued with her mother. They say that The Man lets them do whatever they want, and they're all married to him. When Vesta says that she stole her mother's wedding ring, they show her the rings of bruises on their necks and ask Vesta if she wants to marry the Man. Vesta agrees and they lead her off.

The Man is watching from his truck and smiles in approval. A security guard comes over and The Man says that his battery is dead. The guar...

    Waiting for the Man

That certainly was one hell of a twist wasn't it? When Papa Midnite told John someone close would betray him, I had no clue who it would be.

It didn't seem possible Chas, Zed or Manny could betray him right? Well Constantine Season 1 Episode 13 gave us the answer while simultaneously setting up Season 2. Shame this season wasn't a few episodes longer; it felt like something was missing (a Newcastle flashback perhaps?).

Whether the series stays on NBC or makes Syfy its new home, there are just too many great stories to tell to stop now. Fingers crossed Hellblazers!

Again, I was shocked by the gruesome subject matter NBC tackled in the finale. Not so much the Satanic killer, but the ridiculously young wives recruiting future brides for "the man." The way the polygamist caressed those girls made my skin crawl.

The carnival setting and Bear McCreary's brilliant score provided a particularly spooky atmosphere this week. I'm not sure any episo...

    Angels and Ministers of Grace

I've got to say, this week's Constantine Season 1 Episode 12 certainly didn't feel like the penultimate installment of the season.

That's probably due to the fact the season was cut short at 13 episodes. Still, I thought it was a solid story and enjoyed Manny's involvement more than ever.

In retrospect, I should have guessed who the killer was, but the story was just so engaging I went with the flow.

That poor junkie girl had no clue she was about to experience her final high. Brutal the way that creature tossed her about like a rag doll. I was surprised she didn't die from that overdose, but it made for an interesting twist. The story had to kick off somewhere right?

After the events of New York, it was no surprise Zed was feeling a bit shaky. Loved that she described that peaceful room as "a good song on repeat," but like John said there's a war going on. Get with the program pretty young psychic.

Of course Manny appeared to poo...

Angels and Ministers of Grace A woman, Taylor, goes to a drug house and talks to garret, the man at the door. When Garret wonders why she came around, Taylor says that her brother's funeral is the next day and then buys two needles of a golden fluid. Taylor walks down the street and injects herself, just as all of the streetlights blow out. A hideous disfigured man grabs her, smashes her to the ground, and jams both needles syringes into her body as her veins turn black.

The police are called when the body is found and assumes that Taylor is dead... until she jerks back to life.

At the mill house, Constantine returns and confirms with Chas that there's nothing on the scry map. He notice a red string leading to a nearby room and follows it despite Chas warning that Zed wants to be alone. Zed is meditating in a room that appears to be outdoors, and has used the thread to find her way back. Constantine figures that she is meditating to avoid using her powers, and tells her that the best cure for pus...

    A Whole World Out There

I'll be honest, the preview for Constantine Season 1 Episode 11 didn't seem particularly interesting. The episode, however, turned out to be a genuinely scary hour of television.

I enjoyed spending time with Ritchie Simpson this week, Chas and Zed earned their little break. Things seemed better between John and Ritchie after this insane adventure. I'm glad, the guy needs all the help he can get.

Only two episodes left, can you believe it?

Foolish college kids in a graveyard messing with spells felt like something I'd seen a million times. Once they were transported to another realm, that's when things got interesting. William Mapother (Ethan from LOST) was in full creeper mode. He's just one scary dude.

It's always fun to see characters like Gary Lester pop back up. I immediately wondered if John would be transported somewhere in the episode and come face to face with his old friend. However, it was Ritchie that needed help this time.

A Whole World Out There At a mausoleum in a graveyard, two couples drink and jokingly prepare to cats a ritual from a book. One of the men, Adam, explains that a man, Jacob Shaw, claimed that using the rituals in the book, he could travel to other worlds. The two couples recite the ritual from the book and they each find themselves in an old house, alone in different areas. One of the women, Miranda, picks up a book, unaware that Jacob Shaw is watching her.

A young man grabs the other woman, Lily, and says that "he" can see them and begs her to hide.

Miranda turns and sees Shaw, and screams.

The two couples suddenly find themselves back in the mausoleum.

At the mill house, Constantine is drinking and contemplating Jasper's reflection from the past in a mirror. Manny appears and Constantine tells him that Zed and Chas are busy elsewhere. The angel says that Constantine has a friend nearby who needs help. He then disappears as Constantine realizes who he is talking...

    Quid Pro Quo

Well, we finally got Chas' backstory on Constantine Season 1 Episode 10 and the writers sure did cut it close; there's only 3 episodes left!

Funny that a spell cast by a drunk Constantine changed Chas' life forever. Unfortunately, he's not immortal but Chas certainly has more than 9 lives. Though he does use them up rather quickly.

Is it me or has the "everyone hating on John" thing grown a bit old? I mean, the guy's not perfect sure, but he tries his best you know? Cut him some bloody slack for Pete's sake.

Since I'm not a big comic book reader, I felt at a disadvantage this week not being familiar with Felix Faust. The character probably impressed diehard Hellblazer fans much more since they have some real background on the guy. I just thought he was a dick.

I mean, taking the soul of a little girl. That's got to be the lowest of the low right?

Zed finally came clean about the Resurrection Crusade this week and the leader is def...

Quid Pro Quo In New York City, a hooded man stands atop a building and casts a spell. In the building below, a young girl brushes her doll's hair as the spell flows into the room via the fireplace. The mists of the spell enfold the girl as she stares in horror.

At the mill house, Constantine tells Zed that he's cast a protective spell to ward off her earlier attackers, and asks who they are. Zed finally tells him that they are the Resurrection Crusader, and their leader is her father... and wants her back no matter what the cost. Constantine assures her that he won't let them get her, and Zed believes him. The blood map bleeds indicating Brooklyn, and Constantine remembers that Chas is driving there to see his daughter.

    Two Years Earlier

Chas is at a bar drinking and calls to tell his wife Renee that he's on the way home to tuck in their daughter Geraldine. Once he hangs up, Constantine staggers over with a girl and asks if Chas is good to drive home. Cha...

The Saint of Last Resorts: Part 2 The invunche moves in on the wounded Constantine, while Anne Marie takes the baby to the surface and hands it over. Chas demands to know where Constantine is, but the nun says that she's sorry and goes in.

Constantine takes an amulet out of his pocket and casts a spell. The invunche grabs his leg and tries to drag him off, and Constantine punches it until it backs off momentarily. He then finishes the spell and screams in agony, and his eyes glow red as he glares at the creature. After a moment, it runs off, but Manny appears and warns Constantine that he invited a demon into his body. Constantine points out that the demon healed him, but Manny reminds him that now a demon occupies his body. The angel tells Constantine that he acted without consequences to avoid going to Hell, refuses to help him, and walks away.

Zed wakes up in the back of a van, and has a vision of Anne Marie in a cage, her eyes bleeding. She finds a wrapped body next to her, and the drive...

The Saint of Last Resort, Part 2

I'm not sure waiting a whole month to air Constantine Season 1 Episode 9 was a great idea. The show had a nice momentum going.

Anyway, Anne Marie had sacrificed John to the Invunche in order to escape. He in turn invited the demon, Pazuzu, into his body to fight off the nasty creature. Manny was not happy about any of this.

That's where the fun begins this week and the Constantine team delivered another killer hour of television.

Elsewhere, a kidnapped Zed has a vision of Anne Marie crying tears of blood. Definitely not a good sign right? I love that Zed managed to escape and kick a little ass in the process. It's great to see all these strong female characters popping up on TV lately, like Zed and Agent Carter. The damsel in distress has been done to death.

Back in Mexico City, Chas finds John in the tunnels and learns the truth about what went down. I'm glad John has at least one true friend and can't wait to learn more about their histo...
