Walt clears snow off of his car and gets in holding a package of money. He looks around in the glove compartment and finds a screwdriver. He tries to start the car with it but ends up hurting his hand. Police lights shine behind his car and a flashlight shines around. He whispers to himself, "Just get me home, I'll do the rest." The police car passes and Walt lowers the overhead mirror. Keys to the car fall down and he starts the engine. Walt, having driven from New Hampshire, pulls over to get gas at a se... more

Series Finale Walter White's Last Stand

One of my favorite season finales of all time was the end of Breaking Bad's fourth season. The Gus Fring story ended in a glorious reality-bending shot, and Walt had apparently reached his moral low in achieving that victory. While I think that episode still tops my personal best-of list, this series finale arguably accomplishes even more: the story circles back on itself perfectly, everything is out in the open and it ends the era of what might be an even better villain than Gus: Walte... more

In a lively chat on “Variety After-Show” on Instagram — where Odenkirk answered questions from fans — following the episode’s airing, he also revealed that one of the season’s last two remaining epi... more

TV's Top 25 Episodes of the Decade

Before this decade, the idea of a network dropping an entire season on one day was not a serious one. Episodes aired week to week, occasionally back to back, and so it went — until streaming services made clear that they were willing to tread a different path. Suddenly, it seemed, TV’s release calendar featured more and more shows releasing a slew of episodes all at once, banking on keeping the audience’s attention with “bingeworthy” content. While exciting at first, this shift eventually started to flatten seaso... more
