Batwoman: SEASON 1, EPISODE 16: Through the Looking Glass | TVBuzer

Aired: March 22,2020

Kate begins to question her instincts and Luke gets upsetting news. Alice seeks her sister's help with a special task.... more

Through the Looking-Glass

It's an unusual strategy that Batwoman Season 1 Episode 16 uses in its narrative and I have to believe it is purposeful because it's impossible that the story could dovetail so perfectly by accident. After Kate killed August Cartwright on Batwoman Season 1 Episode 15, you could be forgiven if you assumed that this follow-up would be some sort of cathartic therapy session. And it sort of was. However, the fact that Julia Pennyworth is brought back on the scene (YAAAAAAAS!) and... more

Off With Her Head

For a show that takes place in Gotham, one of the darkest settings in the DC universe, Batwoman Season 1 Episode 15 manages to plumb new depths of the horrific with the introduction of Alice's own Red Queen, Mabel Cartwright. Maybe there had been some strange wrong-headed belief that August's captivity and psychologically abusive treatment was all it took to turn young Beth Kane into the mentally unstable Alice. Witnessing Mabel's routine and sadistic physical abuse of Beth/A... more

Grinning From Ear to Ear

For an episode with a lot of moving parts, Batwoman Season 1 Episode 14 managed to keep it together admirably and didn't even bore me with the Batwoman-Sophie thing. In fact, this was definitely the best Sophie outing (no pun intended) of the season. I was pretty meh about the big lip-lock at the end of Batwoman Season 1 Episode 13 but the follow-through here is a fine example of sensitive and genuine writing about a hugely difficult decision. Dare I say it, ... more

The baddie will prey on Gotham’s residents in the Feb. 23 episode to sustain her need for human blood caused by a rare disease. The character has a ... more

Batwoman Recap: The Beths Laid Plans

This week on Batwoman, Beth’s doppelganger got used to the new world she now lives in — and vice versa — before doing what she herself could to play hero and save the day. Picking up right where last week left off, Kate ignored Beth’s declarations that she is the real deal, roughing her up to the point that Beth grabbed for the pepper spray in her messenger bag and used it on her own sis, before running away. After swinging by Crows Security to confirm that Alice was an... more

Did Batwoman Just Deliver Its Big, Post-Crisis 'What the F--k' Moment?

The “Crisis on Infinite Earths” may be over, but its resolution appears to have left Batwoman‘s mind-blown Kate Kane doing a double take. At the close of this Sunday’s midseason premiere — which, it must be noted, also had Batwoman publically coming out as a lesbian (via a Kara Danvers exclusive for CatCo!) — Kate received quite the birthday surprise, in the form of her kindly sister Beth, newly returned from a semester abroad. Wait, what? ... more
