A Mad Tea-Party

As far as fall finales go, Batwoman Season 1 Episode 8 manages to deliver high drama while setting us up for some serious comeuppance in the back half (middle third now I guess with the full episode order) of the season. To get at the heart of the matter, there are three major relationship shifts to address. Each of them opens a door to potential future conflict and character development. None of them bode well for Kate. Let's start with the one I honestly co... more

Tell Me the Truth

Messy can be fun, and Batwoman Season 1 Episode 7 makes a real effort to mess with everyone in sight. It's more than just sleight-of-hand (although Alice does one of those). There are some genuine moments of "WTH?" surprise wrapped up in a slightly convoluted plot about preserving the uniqueness of the coil accelerator weapon Mouse stole from Hamilton Dynamics on Batwoman Season 1 Episode 6. There are also some awesome little tidbits that provide insight and ... more

I'll Be Judge, I'll Be Jury

While Batwoman Season 1 Episode 6 fulfilled a sort of "ripped-from-the-comics" entertaining adventure, it suffered from two major flaws. The first is a bit petty, I'll admit. It's a wonky detail that either wasn't thought through thoroughly or is missing key context to make it make sense. In the opening scene, Angus Stanton was walking into the parking lot talking on his cell phone when he got confronted by the Executioner standing on the other side of the do... more

Batwoman Star Reacts to Alice's 'Unfathomable Act of Evil' at Tea Party

This Sunday in Batwoman‘s fall finale, Alice finally hosted her “mad tea party” — from which one of her guests left in a body bag. This time targeting the woman whose act of deception years ago stopped Jacob Kane from searching for his missing, presumed-dead daughter, Alice laid siege to a gala honoring Catherine Hamilton-Kane — hijacking the TelePrompTer to force out a public confession (about her tech company manufacturing bad guns that land in the hands of bad ... more

TV Ratings: 'Batwoman' Fall Finale Ticks Up

“Batwoman” used her sprawling cape to glide to a solid TV rating on the CW in its fall finale. The series ticked up from last episode a 0.3 rating among adults 18-49, and drew just over 1 million total viewers, the same amount as last time around. “Supergirl” came in at a 0.2 and just under 900,000 total viewers, a four-week viewership high. Last week, the show’s lead Melissa Benoist posted ... more

Batwoman's Nicole Kang Previews Rift Between Sisters, Major Twist Ahead

This Sunday in Batwoman‘s fall finale, (The CW, 8/7c), the bond between step-sisters will be put to the test, following one mother of a debate. Setting the stage for the family friction will be a gala honoring tech titan Catherine Hamilton-Kane. Now, Mary previously (and somewhat hilariously — hey, Luke!) acted out in the immediate wake of learning how her mother years ago deceived Jacob Kane, but she has since tried to put it in perspective and allow the benefit of a doubt. more
