At the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), a fictional New York-based intelligence agency, eight dysfunctional secret agents attempt to solve global crises while simultaneously screwing each other over. The team is made up of the narcissistic Sterling Archer; his emotionally distant mother, ISIS director Malory Archer; the always-professional Lana Kane, Sterling's more
... former flame; Ray Gillette, the agency's openly gay bomb specialist; HR head Pam Poovey; mild-mannered accountant-turned-agent Cyril Figgis; Cheryl Tunt, Malory's delusional, psychotic personal assistant; and Dr. Algernop Krieger, a bizarre, morally bankrupt scientist with little regard for the well-being of his subjects.

Three to Tango

It's always nice to see a show like this develop a rogue's gallery and I've always felt that for the first few seasons the show suffered from killing off the big bad at the end of the episode rather than teasing us with the possibility that they might return. In addition to the gay Cuban hitmen, I was particularly delighted when George Takei's Yakuza character returned in Archer Season 5 and his death was even handwaved (when a logical explanation is omitted just because). The potential of ... more

The Archer Sanction

This week on Archer Season 6 Episode 3, Sterling, Lana, and Ray go on a mountain-climbing expedition in the Alps to assassinate a foreign leader with the catch being that Archer can't remember who the gang is supposed to assassinate. Was the plot whole ever addressed over why Lana didn't get the dossier file to begin with? The best defense I can come up with is that this is nothing new: Headquarters (or what's left of it) has a long history of being foolishly optimistic that Archer will bot... more

Edie's Wedding

In the super-spy genre, it's generally a given that realism or moral equivalence (the idea in literature that good people get good luck and vice versa) are thrown out the window. James Bond and his contemporaries are generally jerks who only get the "good guy" status in the story because their foe fits such a clear-cut definition of evil.
