Treasure of the Sun

Reconciling the many facets of a deity is explored American Gods Season 2 Episode 7 and although Mad Sweeney is central, he isn't the only one who plays multiple roles. We've always known that Wednesday's got a multitude of names and he takes great pride in trotting out the titles in moment of pomp and circumstance. As he tells Shadow on American Gods Season 1 Episode 8,"I am called Glad-O-War, Grim, Raider, and Third. I am One-eyed. I am also called Highest, and True-G... more

Donar the Great

I have so many mixed feeling about American Gods Season 2 Episode 6. On the one hand, it was an entertaining weaving of past and present, showing us how Wednesday's single-minded drive for power has spanned generations. On the other hand, not a lot happened to further the story in the present-day. Gungnir's runes get recharged. Cool. Was it worth an entire episode for that one piece of war prep? The Ways of the Dead

It's an understood pitfall to complex narratives that, somewhere in a season (i.e., American Gods Season 2 Episode 5), the writers are forced to jam several disparate plots into a single hour. I'd say it has everything but the kitchen sink except that there is a kitchen sink so, yeah, there's a LOT to keep track of here. If I were to hazard a guess at a unifying theme, I'd say it's one of questing, searching for something. Ruby, Salim, Wednesday, Laura, and Shadow are ALL on th... more

“American Gods” Season 2 is coming soon to Starz, and while rumors of chaos behind the scenes have made news over the past year, executive producer Neil Gaiman says that the returning show “still looks and feels like ‘American Gods.'” Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, the original showrunners of the Starz drama based on Gaiman’s book, left the series after completing Season 1 and writing scripts for a second season; they were succeeded by “Heroes” execu... more

American Gods Season 2 Trailer: For Old Gods and New, It's 'Time to Ride'

[YouTube=-lnHyVg74aQ] We’re not entirely sure it’s Shadow who’s receiving multiple, dire warnings in the newly released American Gods Season 2 trailer, but if so, we suggest he heeds them — and quickly. Because when Laura says “He is dangerous. I need you to believe that” and Mad Sweeney cautions “There’s always a cost with him. You just haven’t paid it yet,” who else could they be talking about other than the (literally) bigger than life Mr. Wednesday? Indeed, the... more

American Gods Season 2 Teaser Trailer: 'Is Everyone In Here a God?!'

Strap in, American Gods fans. The carousel at House on the Rock is about to start spinning.  The Starz series released a Season 2 teaser trailer Friday, in conjunction with the show’s New York Comic Con panel. In the video above, Ricky Whittle’s Shadow Moon is coming to grips with the bombshell that was dropped on him in the end of Season 1: Gods are real, and he’s working for one.  Or, as Mad Sweeney puts it in the video above: “You’re in the fairytale... more
