Season 1 Finale Can Wednesday and Shadow Find a Queen?

In the most recent episodes, it really hasn't felt like American Gods is wrapping up its first season. Instead, it has almost been as if the series is ramping up, not slowing down. Yet with this episode, "Come to Jesus," the season 1 finale is here. While it definitely feels like American Gods is in the middle of its story, "Come to Jesus" does manage to provide a climactic but still satisfying stopping point for now.Season 2 should almost certainly have a few more episodes than season 1,... more

Who Really Killed Laura Moon?

If any character in season 1 of American Gods has been the breakout star of the series, it is Pablo Schreiber's Mad Sweeney. Schreiber has been excellent as the gruff and incredibly tall leprechaun of American Gods. It is not much of a surprise then that this episode, titled a "Prayer for Mad Sweeney," devotes almost all of its runtime to the foul-mouthed creature of legend. It's equally unsurprising that it might just be the best episode of the series thus far.The Story of Essie... more

A Prayer for Mad Sweeney

On the one hand, American Gods Season 1 Episode 7 was an impeccably crafted hour, filled with strong performances and some great development for Mad Sweeney. On the other hand, American Gods Season 1 Episode 6 left off with such a massive cliffhanger that it felt a little weird to abandon ship with Wednesday/Shadow's storyline completely. Especially it being the penultimate installment of the season and all. I guess that's the benefit of having gott... more

American Gods Season 2 Trailer: For Old Gods and New, It's 'Time to Ride'

[YouTube=-lnHyVg74aQ] We’re not entirely sure it’s Shadow who’s receiving multiple, dire warnings in the newly released American Gods Season 2 trailer, but if so, we suggest he heeds them — and quickly. Because when Laura says “He is dangerous. I need you to believe that” and Mad Sweeney cautions “There’s always a cost with him. You just haven’t paid it yet,” who else could they be talking about other than the (literally) bigger than life Mr. Wednesday? Indeed, the... more
