Jon Cryer Returns to 'NCIS' with Laura San Giacomo

Following his two previous episode appearances, Two and a Half Men alum Jon Cryer is returning to NCIS. Cryer's character, Cyril Taft, was first introduced to the series when he saved Gibbs' life. EW reports, that Cryer will return in an episode, "Loose Cannons," this February and he will be joined by another famous TV actress, Laura San Giacomo.

Cryer, of course, will be reprising his role as Dr. Taft. San Giacomo will be playing Taft's co-worker and confidant, Dr. Grace Confalone. If San Giacomo's name isn't familiar, her face most certainly will be as she has been on multiple TV shows over the years. The most famous (and significant ones) being Just Shoot Me and Veronica Mars.

Little is known how Grace will factor into the plot but this time Cyril will be helping Gibbs solve a case. It will be an adventure that Taft will evidently enjoy quite a bit if NCIS executive producer, Gary Glasberg, can be believed. Glasberg went on to say, "Having Jon involved this season has been a gift. His skills as an actor and comedian make him the perfect addition to our team."

Nothing has been said to suggest that this isn't just another guest-star appearance. You do have to wonder with Michael Weatherly leaving the show if NCIS isn't looking for another comic relief character. Granted Taft  probably can't do the same job as Tony but there's no reason he couldn't join the NCIS team in a more official capacity.

But what do you think? Are you excited to hear that Jon Cryer is coming back to NCIS? Did you find his character humorous or annoying the first time? Are you anticipating how Laura San Giacomo's character will interact with Taft and the rest of NCIS crew? Do you think this might be the beginning of a more recurring role for Jon Cryer on NCIS?

NCIS season 13  airs Tuesdays at 8pm on CBS.
