HBO Sets 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Premiere Date

Winter is coming this spring. HBO has announced that the fifth season of the fantasy epic Game of Thrones will premiere Sunday, April 12 at 9pm.

This is a later start than usual for Game of Thrones, which has begun in the first week of April or the last week of March for each of the last three seasons. Only season 1 started in mid-April.
The show will be followed by the premieres of Veep and Silicon Valley at 10pm and 10:30pm. It will mark the fourth season of Veep and the second for Silicon Valley.

The fifth season of Game of Thrones will bring new challenges and drama with the introduction of Dorne, Oberyn Martell's home. Season 4 ended with Arya and Tyrion separately escaping via ships across the Narrow Sea while King's Landing was left in chaos following the assassination of Tywin Lannister.

In addition to these premieres, HBO has also recently renewed Girls for a fifth season and renewed Real Time with Bill Maher for two additional seasons.
