FOX Orders 'Minority Report' and 'Lucifer' for 2015-2016 Season

FOX continues to grow its lineup for the 2015-2016 TV season by ordering two new dramas. Minority Report, an adaptation of the Steven Spielberg film, and Lucifer, based on the DC Comics character.

Minority Report picks up 10 years after the pre-crime division is closed. One of the male pre-cogs (Stark Sands) tries to lead a normal life, but uses his ability to see the future to help a detective (Meagan Good) solve crimes. The show also stars Wilmer Valderrama.
Lucifer, starring Tom Ellis in the title role, is about the Lord of Hell resigning his kingdom, heading to Los Angeles to help the LAPD punish criminals. The show also stars Lauren German and D.B. Woodside.

The two join previously announced new dramas The Frankenstein Code and Rosewood as well as three new comedies, Rob Lowe's The Grinder, John Stamos' Grandfathered and The Guide to Surviving Life.

FOX is clearly interested in crime-solving with a twist, whether it's a resurrected detective like in The Frankenstein Code or Lucifer helping the LAPD or solving future crimes with a pre-cog or using pathology to solve crimes in Rosewood. And that doesn't even include returning shows like Gotham, Sleepy Hollow and the reboot of The X-Files, all of which also feature detectives or FBI agents.

Minority Report and Lucifer also continue two other big trends in TV across all networks: movie and DC Comics adaptations. Minority Report joins Rush Hour and Limitless on CBS as well as Uncle Buck on ABC as a TV version of a film.

Lucifer is the latest DC property to be turned into a TV show. The CW has Arrow, The Flash, iZombie and the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow, FOX has Gotham, CBS has Supergirl and NBC recently cancelled Constantine, though it may be picked up by another network, not to mention AMC developing Preacher.

FOX will reveal its schedule for the 2015-2016 TV season on Monday, May 11.
