'Doctor Who' Season 8 Adds Ben Miller as 'Storming Villain'

Being The Doctor is never easy, but it seems Peter Capaldi is really going to have his work cut out for him this upcoming season. Back in March, we reported that actressKeeley Hawes would be taking on avillainous role and now it seems we can add yet another foe to the 'Doctor Who' lineup.

Funnyman Ben Miller has just signed on to guest star in theBritish time-traveling series' eighth season – and from the look of things, it won't be a very laughing matter.Let's just hope Capaldi's sonic screwdriver is fully charged and ready to go.

“Mark Gatiss has written us a storming villain for his new episode, and with [Peter]Capaldiin the TARDIS, we knew we needed somebody special to send everybody behind the sofa,” executive producer Steven Moffat said in a statement. “And quite frankly, it’s about time Ben Miller was in 'Doctor Who' !”

Right now, very little is known about the actual character, but with Gatiss at the helm, it's bound to be a pretty exciting storyline. As for Miller himself, he couldn't be more thrilled to be teaming up with the BBC family in such a (literally) out-of-this-world role.

“As a committed Whovian, I cannot believe my luck in joining the Twelfth Doctor for one of his inaugural adventures," Miller says. “My only worry is that they’ll make me leave the set when I’m not filming.”

Miller’s previous TV credits include BBC One’s 'The Worst Week of My Life'and 'Death In Paradise' as well as ITV’s 'Primeval.'

'Doctor Who' Season 8 will premiere on BBC America later this year.
