Doctor Who, Call The Midwife, Tom & Jerry And A Former EastEnder Will Feature In This Year's Children In Need

On Friday 14th November, BBC will welcome an exciting mix of the biggest names in music and entertainment who are coming together for the annual 'BBC Children In Need' appeal show extravaganza.

The glitzy and entertaining night will be live from the home of Eastenders, Albert Square, which will play host to the big names, and show-stopping performances.

Sir Terry Wogan , Tess Daly , Fearne Cotton , and Nick Grimshaw will be joined by a new host for the show, The Saturdays singer, Rochelle Humes . The brilliant five will welcome an array of stars as they band together to help raise money for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Rochelle Humes says: "I'm so excited and honoured to be asked to be part of the presenting team for BBC Children In Need this year. I hope everyone tunes in on the night to support this amazing cause and really make a difference to children across all parts of the UK."

Sir Terry Wogan , BBC Children In Need Life President, says: "It was my privilege to present the very first Children in Need in 1980 and over the years it has truly become the British Public's charity. Their extraordinary generosity has meant that their donations of over £740 million have made a real difference to the lives of this country's disadvantaged children and young people. It's an honour and pleasure to be part of a great charity and I am looking forward to presenting an evening full of entertainment with the usual suspects, Tess, Fearne, Nick and our new host Rochelle."

There will be a huge treat for viewers of the show, a stand out moment on the night will come from the legendary cartoon characters, Tom and Jerry. The pair will star in an exclusive cartoon made especially for 'BBC Children In Need' .

There will also be another special treat in store for 'EastEnders' fans, some famous faces from the show will return to Albert Square in an exclusive sketch to be broadcast on the night. One character will be visited by some infamous ghost from the past…who could it be?

Gareth Malone and his All-Star Choir will appear, his choir will be made up by celebrities including: Jo Brand , Mel Giedroyc and Craig Revel-Horwood who will perform the official BBC Children In Need single for the first time on television. Also appearing on the night will be One Direction , Cheryl and The Script – all of whom will be performing in The Queen Vic. Susan Boyle and Boyzone will also be joining the star-studded list of musical guests.

'Strictly Come Dancing' will also feature in the evening of entertainment, as Sir Bruce Forsyth will make his return to the show, alongside Tess Daly . Four talented young ballroom champions will be taking to the Strictly dance floor alongside professional dancers.

The stars of the newly West End hit, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ will give a special performance, ‘Made in Dagenham’, ‘Once’ and ‘Sunny Afternoon’ will also give a performances. The cast of ‘EastEnders will give a special musical performance that will transform the square. ‘Doctor Who’ and 'Call The Midwife' have prepared something special for the evening as well.

'The One Show' Rickshaw Challenge will return for its fourth year. The challenge will culminate live on the night, after following five young people who are each supported by 'BBC Children In Need' funded projects.

Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One comments: "It's a stellar line up and promises to be a spectacular Children in Need night. From Gareth's fabulous All Star Choir to the Rickshaw challenge and the surprise characters returning to EastEnders, everyone is pulling out all the stops to raise money for children all over the UK, so don't miss it!"

I'm very proud of the spectacular line-up we've brought together and they are all taking part for one special reason - to raise money for disadvantaged children throughout the UK. More announcements regarding the entertainment on offer during the evening will be revealed in due course.

Watch 'BBC Children In Need' on November 14 2014 on BBC one and BBC TWO. Kicking off at 7pm on BBC one, with a special edition of 'The One Show' . The main appeal show will then continue on the channel between 7.30pm and 10.00pm. BBC TWO will then carry the show for 35 minutes, in order for BBC one to air the News, the appeal will then culminate on BBC one between 10.35pm and 2.00am.
