DirecTV‘s first original series has been picked up for a second season.

Suspense drama “Rogue,” which stars Thandie Newton (“E.R.”) as Grace Travis, an undercover detective searching for the killer of her son, will begin production on its 10-episode second season late this summer. Season two is set for a 2014 premiere.

“Rogue” recently finished its run on Audience. DirecTV previously aired new seasons of “Friday Night Lights” and “Damages,” two series it rescued from the scrap heap, on Audience.

“We are thrilled that our first venture into original programming resonated with our subscribers who enthusiastically tuned into Rogue each week,” Chris Long, DirecTV’s SVP Entertainment and Production, said in a release. “We look forward to bringing them another season of Rogue and the chance to experience the next chapter in Grace’s life.”

Said eOne TV CEO John Morayniss, “Thandie’s incredible performance and edge-of-your-seat excitement had audiences wanting more.”

Series creator Matthew Parkhill (“The Caller”) exec produces with Nick Hamm from Greenroom and eOne’s Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg.

“Rogue,” from Entertainment One and Greenroom Entertainment, is a Canada-UK co-production from eOne and Greenroom, produced in participation with DirecTV. eOne also handles worldwide rights.

“Rogue” also stars Marton Csokas, Joshua Sasse, Jarod Joseph and Kavan Smith.

A second DirecTV original series, Neil LaBute’s “Full Circle,” wraps production this week. David Boreanaz (“Bones”), Kate Walsh (“Private Practice”) and Billy Campbell (“The Killing”) are among “Full Circle’s” stars.
