ABC Cancels 'Selfie,' Orders Full Season of 'Forever'

Another one bites the dust and another one lives on. ABC has cancelled its second freshman comedy, Selfie, but also picked up the drama Forever for a full season.

Selfie, starring Karen Gillen and John Cho, will still air this Tuesday, but future airings are unclear and ABC has decided not to pick up the show beyond its initial 13-episode order. It joins Manhattan Love Story, Bad Judge and A to Z on the cancellation pile in what is turning out to be a very bad fall for new comedies.

Thus far, ABC's other new sitcom, Black-ish, is the only new half-hour show to get a full-season order. Things are also looking bad for FOX's Mulaney and CBS' The McCarthys, though NBC's Marry Me did receive an order for additional scripts.

However, dramas this season are universally doing well, and now ABC has picked up Forever for a full season. The Tuesday night procedural about an immortal coroner has struggled in the ratings, but ABC is still giving it a chance.

Forever joins How to Get Away with Murder, Gotham, The Mysteries of Laura, both new CW shows and all four new CBS dramas in getting a full season.

With these decisions, ABC's Friday night comedy Cristela is the network's only new fall show whose season-long fate has yet to be decided. However, it seems to be getting decent enough numbers with Last Man Standing, so it could join Black-ish as the second new fall comedy to get a full season.

Selfie will still air this Tuesday at 8pm on ABC. Forever airs Tuesdays at 10pm on ABC.
