6 Reasons We Want to See Jessica on 'S.W.A.T.' Get a Promotion

In the winter finale of S.W.A.T. Season 1, Jessica made it clear that she was on the path of a wonderful career. Realizing there was room for improvement, she creates proposals and shows that she has what it takes to rise to the top. There are opportunities for Jessica to get a promotion, even though it could mean her leaving the show. Even though we'd miss her, here are six reasons she deserves a promotion.

1. She's Proven Her Work Ethic

Many people want to reach to the top so they can sit back and relax. They want to do as little as possible, but reap all the rewards. Jessica isn't like that. During the winter finale, Jessica pointed out that her parents worked hard to help her achieve greatness and she wants to repay them. That means working her butt off every single day. Her work ethic will stick with her in the future, making her a respectable boss.

2. She's Not Afraid to Take Risks

When nobody talked to her about her proposals, she decided to open the conversation. She wasn't afraid to talk to Hicks, only to realize that Hondo had never given him her proposals. Going over Hondo's head was a risk, which Hicks points out. A good leader isn't afraid to take risks now and then, which Jessica has proven time and time again.

3. She's a Strong Female Role Model

In a world dominated by men in charge, it's time to see women have positions of authority. The likes of Supernatural (with Jody Mills and Donna Hanscum), Lucifer (with Chloe Decker) and Grey's Anatomy (with Bailey, Meredith, Amelia, Arizona and more!) have proven time and time again that women can lead. They can make decisions, take charge of situations and manage their team members effectively. It's time for a show like S.W.A.T. to do that and Jessica is the perfect person for that role. She proves to young women that there are opportunities.

4. She's Smart and Thoughtful

Jessica gave a number of proposals. She thought outside the box and considered situations from as many angles as possible. Her processes were thoughtful, considerate and, above all, smart. Jessica has made a point of showing there's nothing wrong with using your brains and that what you know can help get you somewhere. In this case, it should be a promotion.

5. She's Not Afraid to Listen to Criticism

It's not easy being a woman on the police force. Jessica has shown time and time again that she's willing to take criticism and even hatred. When the criticism is constructive, she's been able to use it to her advantage. She listened to Hicks' advice and make it very clear she was willing to learn and adapt. Very few people in the world are able to handle criticism with such grace and remain positive after the fact. Jessica just takes it all as lessons to improve.

6. She Knows How to Give Criticism

On top of that, the hatred and backlash she's sometimes faced will help her manage her team members. The positive criticism she's received will give her ideas on how to give it to others. Jessica has the ability to become a teacher and motivator, not just a boss.
If Jessica leaves S.W.A.T. she will certainly be missed. She's a bright and confident woman and someone many younger women and girls need to see on TV. However, this is a woman with a bright career and if she's ever offered a promotion, she should grasp it with both hands and run!

S.W.A.T. airs on Thursdays at 10/9c on CBS.
