2016 Emmy Award Nominations: 'Thrones' and 'O.J.' Lead, 'Americans' and 'black-ish' Break Through

The 2016 Emmy Award nominations were announced Thursday morning, with Game of Thrones and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story leading all programs with 23 and 22 nominations.

It was also a huge year for underdogs in past years. The Americans finally broke through on the Drama side, getting in for Series as well as its two leads, Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell. On the Comedy side, black-ish scored big for its sophomore season for Series and its two leads, Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Newcomers to the Emmy race include Mr. Robot and Master of None. Notable snubs include The Good Wife in its final season as well as Emmy staples like Donwton Abbey's Jim Carter and Modern Family's Julie Bowen.
