Sterling Brown was born in St. Louis, Missouri where he attended theprestigious St. Louis Country Day School. An avid thespian during hishigh school years, Brown attributes Milton Zoth, with first sparkinghis love for acting. He then attended Stanford University where heearned his B.A. in Drama, and finally the Graduate Acting program atNYU where he received his MFA. His original intention was to be aneconomics major at Stanford, and only changed his major at thebeginning of his junior year. He had been gently encouraged in this br/>direction by his mentor Harry J. Elam, Jr. Professor Elam directedBrown in his first play at Stanford, August Wilson's Joe Turner's Comeand Gone, and later in his first professional play, Blues for anAlabama Sky. Upon completion of graduate school, Brown worked steadilyin the world of regional theater, and occasionally in film andtelevision. Still in the infancy of his career, he still relishesopportunities to perform on stage, and looks forward to furthering hiscareer in front of the camera.
