Nazanin Boniadi is rapidly making her mark in both film and television.Beginning in episode two, season three of the Emmy and Golden Globeaward-winning drama "Homeland", she co-stars as CIA analyst FaraSherazi. Among her many television credits, Ms. Boniadi is probablybest known as Nora, a relatively longstanding love interest to NeilPatrick Harris's Barney Stinson, in seasons six and seven of "How I MetYour Mother". She also appeared in "Rochelle", a three part series forWIGS that co-starred Rosanna Arquette and was produced by Jon Avnet andRodrigo Garcia.On film, Ms. Boniadi appeared as Amira Ahmed in Jon Favreau's "Iron Man"and portrayed a young mother, Elaine, in Paul Haggis' "The Next ThreeDays". She has several independent features to her credit and will nextappear as Parisa Ghaffarian in Richard Raymond's "Desert Dancer",starring Freida Pinto, Reece Ritchie and Tom Cullen.Ms. Boniadi first garnered attention for her work as Nurse Leyla Mir on"General Hospital" for which she received a 2008 NAACP Image Awardnomination for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series.Born in Tehran at the height of the Iranian Revolution, Ms. Boniadi'sparents relocated to London shortly thereafter, where she was raisedwith an emphasis on education. While she was involved in theatre earlyin life and earned her first TV credit as a guest host on thechildren's show "Early Bird", Ms. Boniadi later decided she wanted tobecome a physician. She moved to the United States to attend theUniversity of California Irvine where she received her Bachelor'sDegree, with Honors (Dean's Academic Achievement and Service Award) inBiological Sciences, and won the "Chang Pin Chun" UndergraduateResearch Award for her work in heart-transplant rejection and cancerresearch.Switching gears to pursue her first love, Ms. Boniadi then decided tostudy acting, which included training in Contemporary Drama at theRoyal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London under the supervision ofdramaturge Lloyd Trott.Ms. Boniadi is fluent in both English and Farsi. She is a dedicatedhuman rights activist and an official spokesperson for AmnestyInternational USA, with a focus on women's rights and bringingattention to the unjust conviction and treatment of youth, women andprisoners of conscience in Iran.
