[VIDEO] 'This Is Us' Season 1 Finale Preview: How Did Jack and Rebecca Meet?
Get your tissues ready! This Is Us has brought fans to tears over the course of the season and the season 1 finale is no exception. After seeing a drunk Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) hop into his car in the last episode, fans are eager to know if this is how the Pearson patriarch meets his end. Unfortunately, the season ender will most likely not reveal how exactly Jack dies. Still, viewers are in for yet another emotionally draining hour as the show puts the spotlight on Jack and Rebecca (Mandy Moore.)
In the script for "Moonshadow," which was obtained by Entertainment Weekly , the show goes back to Jack and Rebecca's love story. "You see them in their much younger years as they're figuring out what kind of lives they want for themselves," teased series creator Dan Fogelman.
You can find the detailed script here but, in a nutshell, it's about a 28-year-old beardless Jack who does some mechanical work on a 1967 Chevelle for Mrs. Peabody, who is eager to set him up with her best friend's granddaughter.
Besides telling the story of how Jack and Rebecca met, "Moonshadow" also picks up on last week's cliffhanger finale.
"The episode is exceptionally well done. As a married man I can admit that not every moment is all peaches and cream. Every marriage endures its ups and downs," Sterling K. Brown, who plays Randall, told The Hollywood Reporter. "It sort of shows what it takes to be married: the steadfastness and perseverance and forgiveness that is necessary to make a marriage work. It will be something to rejoice and also something that married people will look at and be like, 'Please, please be OK.'"
"It's really a Jack and Rebecca episode with a lot of weight to it," Fogelman revealed to THR. "It's going to live in very special territory along with some of the other stuff we've done. It's a cool, interesting, scary episode of television. Scary in terms of really watching a couple that we all love go through some stuff."
Meanwhile, the season ender is not just emotional for the Pearson family but their actors as well.
This Is Us concludes its first season on Tuesday, March 14 at 9/8c on NBC.
