Netflix Officially Fires Kevin Spacey from 'House of Cards'

Frank Underwood's time at Netflix is now officially over. In a week filled with uncertainty following sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey, late on Friday Netflix officially announced that the streaming service is cutting ties with the actor and Spacey will not return to film the sixth and final season of House of Cards.

In a statement, it was announced that "Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey." They have also cancelled a planned biopic about Gore Vidal that Spacey was set to star in.

It's been a very busy week for Netflix and the House of Cards team. On Sunday, October 29 a report came out in which Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp accused Kevin Spacey of sexually inappropriate behavior when Rapp was just 14-years-old.

On Monday Netflix announced that the upcoming sixth season of House of Cards, which was currently in production, would be its last. Then on Tuesday production on the show was suspended. Then more allegations came out, including several from people involved with House of Cards stating that Spacey was inappropriate with them as well. This all culminated with Spacey being fired on Friday.

Now the question is: where does House of Cards go from here? The series had already filmed the first two episodes of season 6, but the show is now on a hiatus as the writers try to figure out how to continue the story without Frank Underwood.
