'Grey's Anatomy' Recasts Owen's Sister with 'Timeless' Star

Owen Hunt's sister may be back from the dead on Grey's Anatomy, but she's not going to look the same. The ABC drama has recast the role of Megan Hunt for the upcoming season, getting Timeless star Abigail Spencer to take over the role.

The role of Megan, Owen's presumed dead sister who was revealed to still be alive in the finale, was originally played by Bridget Regan in flashback/dream sequences from a season 13 episode. However, Regan has a scheduling conflict as she is a series regular on TNT's The Last Ship, so Grey's Anatomy was forced to hire a new actress to play the role for a multiple episode arc in season 14.

Spencer is no stranger to high-profile TV shows. She is the star of NBC's Timeless, which received a surprising second season renewal after originally being cancelled earlier this year. Spencer has also appeared on Mad Men, Suits, True Detective and she earned a Critics' Choice Award nomination for her performance on Rectify.

Are you excited to see the new Megan Hunt and how she impacts the life of Owen, Nathan and Meredith? Grey's Anatomy season 14 returns Thursday, September 28 at 8/7c with a two-hour premiere on ABC.
