FX Orders 'Sons of Anarchy' Spin-Off 'Mayans MC'

A new era of motorcycle clubs is coming to FX. The network has officially ordered the new series Mayans MC, which serves as a spin-off of the successful Sons of Anarchy.

The drama, from Elgin James and original SOA creator Kurt Sutter, takes place two and a half years after the end of Sons of Anarchy and centers on the Mayans, a club that was a rival and occasional ally to Jax Teller's group.

Mayans MC focuses on EZ Reyes ( Revolution's JD Pardo), a former golden boy who gets out of jail and joins the Mayans as a prospect, learning to accept his new role as a criminal and outlaw. The series also stars American Crime's Richard Cabral and Oscar nominee Edward James Olmos.

The new spin-off was picked up for 10 episodes, which will debut in 2018. With the end of The Americans in 2018, FX doesn't have many other scripted dramas, instead focusing on the anthology shows like American Horror Story, Fargo and Feud. Mayans MC will join other new drama series on the network like Legion, Snowfall, Taboo and the upcoming Trust.
