Freeform Cancels 'Beyond' After 2 Seasons

There will be no more Beyond beyond the second season. Freeform has cancelled the sci-fi series.

The drama, starring Burkley Duffield, centered on a young man who woke up from a 12-year coma to find he has supernatural powers. Freeform tried something different with the series, putting the entire first season On Demand after the premiere, though the network continued to air it weekly on television. The second season saw the ratings drop to an average of less than 300,000 per episode, with some episodes nearly half that.

The cancellation comes as Freeform is in a transitional period. In 2017, long-running shows like Pretty Little Liars, Switched at Birth and Baby Daddy, plus the sci-fi Stitchers, all came to an end. And it's already been announced that The Fosters and Young and Hungry are both ending in 2018.

The cancellation of Beyond leaves Shadowhunters, Famous in Love and The Bold Type as the network's current drama line-up, with new shows Siren, Marvel's Cloak and Dagger and the PLL spin-off The Perfectionists debuting in 2018. The network also has another spin-off, for The Fosters, coming soon.
