'Designated Survivor' Adds Michael J. Fox for Season 2 Arc

Five-time Emmy winner Michael J. Fox is about to make President Tom Kirkman's life even more difficult. ABC has revealed that the former Spin City star will join the cast of the Kiefer Sutherland drama Designated Survivor for vie episodes in season 2.

Fox will play Ethan West, a competitive and wily Washington lawyer who the Cabinet names as special prosecutor for an investigation into former President Cornelius Moss allegedly leaking classified information. He's described as focused and his only goal is the truth, making him a formidable adversary for Kirkman.

Michael J. Fox has had a long career, from Family Ties in the '80s (for which he won three Emmys) to Spin City in the '90s (for which he won his fourth Emmy) to the 2000s where he's had major recurring roles on Rescue Me, Boston Legal and The Good Wife.

The guest appearance serves as a reunion of the 1988 film Bright Lights, Big City, in which Fox and Sutherland played best friends.

Designated Survivor returns for the second half of season 2 on Wednesday, February 28 at 10/9c on ABC.
