Casting Bits: Recast in New Shondaland Series, 'Grey's Anatomy' Spin-Off Adds 'Rosewood' Alum and More

Britt Robertson on For the People

Upcoming ABC drama For the People, which had been recast after the pilot, has cast Britt Robertson as the lead. According to Deadline, the actress will play Sandra who is described as "a sensible, fiercely intelligent and independent new public defender who was driven to the law because of an injustice perpetrated on her family when she was a child." Robertson, who is known for her roles on Under the Dome, Life Unexpected and The Secret Circle, serves as the replacement of Britne Oldford, who originally played the role of Sandra in the pilot. For the People, which comes from Shonda Rhimes, revolves around lawyers working for both the defense and the prosecution as they handle the most high-profile and high-stakes cases in the country.

Jaina Lee Ortiz on Grey's Anatomy Spin-Off

Grey's Anatomy's spin-off has just cast its first lead star. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rosewood actress Jaina Lee Ortiz has joined the drama though her role is being kept under the wraps. She is expected to guest star in an upcoming episode of Grey's Anatomy this fall. As reported previously, the spin-off is about the personal and professional lives of a group of heroic firefighters, and will feature an entirely new cast.

Li Jun Li on The Exorcist

Quantico actress Li Jun Li has been added to the second season of FOX's The Exorcist Deadline reports that she will play Rose, a social worker assigned to the group home run by Andrew Kim (John Cho). She is describes as a "by-the-books rule follower who arrives to investigate whether Andy is still capable of caring for the children without a maternal figure in the home." It will be revealed later that Rose and Andy have a history since Rose will be able to see through Andy's brave front.
