AMC Renews 'Better Call Saul' for Season 4

Jimmy McGill's journey from Jimmy to Saul Goodman will continue in 2018. AMC has announced that Better Call Saul is being renewed for season 4, which will consist of 10 episodes.

This news comes just over a week after the season 3 finale aired, which saw Kim taking a leave of absence after her car accident, Hector suffering a heart attack and Chuck accidentally setting his house on fire.

"Supporting artists we respect and admire, delivering truly outstanding character development and nuanced dramatic twists and turns, continuing a legacy of bold creative choices, loving writing that is the best in the business: truly, 'S'all good, man," AMC President Charlie Collier said in a press release. "Congratulations to [co-creator] Vince [Gilligan], [co-creator] Peter [Gould], Bob [Odenkirk] and everyone involved with Better Call Saul. Bring on season 4!"

AMC notes that season 3 was the third highest-rated drama on cable TV in the 25-54 demo, behind fellow network dramas The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, with the season as a whole averaging 3.6 million viewers and 2 million in the demo. The season 3 finale that recently aired drew in 3.7 million.

Better Call Saul, a prequel to the highly successful and critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad, centers around shady lawyer Saul Goodman in the years before he gets mixed up with the criminal activity of Walter White and Co.

The series stars Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando, Michael McKean and Giancarlo Esposito.

Over the years, Saul has earned 14 Emmy nominations and has won at the AFI Awards, Critics' Choice Television Awards, TCA Awards, Satellite Awards and WGA Awards. It is currently nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Drama at the 2017 TCA Awards; the winners will be announced on August 5.
