2017 PGA Award Nominations: 'Westworld' and 'Atlanta' Join Old Favorites
The Producers Guild of America is the latest organization to reveal their television nominations for the best of 2016, with a surprising mix of regular nominees and few new shows.
On the Drama side, perennial nominees Game of Thrones and House of Cards are each joined by a new series from their respective networks, HBO's Westworld and Netflix's Stranger Things. Better Call Saul also returns to round out the list. The snub of NBC's hit This Is Us makes this the fifth year in a row that the PGA Awards haven't nominated a single drama series from broadcast television, the last one being The Good Wife in 2012.
For Comedy, Modern Family gets its seventh nomination in a row from the PGA, joined by HBO's Veep and Silicon Valley. However, the PGA also embraced a new show with FX's Atlanta as well as ABC's Black-ish. Absent from the list are the winners from the past two years in this category: Transparent and Orange Is the New Black.
Interestingly, one day after Disney Channel announced that it was cancelled, Girl Meets World picked up a nomination for Children's Program from the PGA.
